Will data be able to be transferred directly from another radio, such as a JR 10X, via the Data Save software?

Mac_Mac, I could not tell from the pictures how many points are available on pitch and throttle curves and how they are set up. That is, are they evenly spaced and you select which ones to activate like the 9 or can you put them where you want them ? I assume the EXP smoothing function is still there ?

The module radio is for DSM3. You can buy a new module and not a completely new radio.

Mac_Mac,

Can JR Japan tell you if the eCCPM interaction software is hiding in a submenu? This radio is obviously quite nice, but if it's lacking this feature, then it's a major omission. And if it's NOT in there, and the radio is NOT software upgradeable, then the buyer will never have access to such a feature were JR to add it to future iterations of the radio.

The fastest RF or SS link in the world has no ability to prevent eCCPM differential travel interactions. If you want a dead nuts, "clean" eCCPM set up, you have to have those extra mixers.

You had also spoken of the ease of switch assignability. Does this mean that every rate, mixer, or flight condition can be assigned to any switch on the transmitter and without limitation?

RE the eCCPM stuff, if JR watches their competition as they should, all you should have to do is ask them if the radio has a submenu which attempt to mimic Futaba's "Swash Detail" and "Linkage Compensation".

Ben,
12X will have Swash detailing function last time I saw in RC-Technique.

I'm with Ben on this. Swash detail is crucial for e-ccpm helis IMHO. I sorely miss this software with my DX7 and will buy a 14mz-2.4 if the 12x doesn't have it.

Let's hope it does.

Copy that, Ben, I wasn't thinking about the mechanical interactions... But, if I'm not mistaken, that only effects 120 degree swash types, right? Not the 140 degree or 90 degree. Is that correct?

A combination of 140D eCCPM and common pivots for all three bellcranks such as it's done Kyosho, CX (common pivots only), and Hirobo vastly improves the situation, but it still isn't quite perfect, esp when servos begin to lose perfect match. Then the mixers are your ace in the hole.

I see. Well then it's encouraging to read what Nob posted above.

This is the kind of info I wish we could get from Horizon. Unfortunately, almost every question I've sent to Horizon support or to Danny on RCU has been met with silence. So damn frustrating.

Tony, I'd like you to move from the UK and live here in the USA. Get a job at Horizon and maybe then we will be able to get timely and useful technical information!

I won't defend Horizon but so much, but one possible reason they're not saying much is that the US version 12X will likely have software tweaks to Horizon's specs, and I'm not sure they're even done with them yet. This is nothing new; they did the same thing with the 9303 versus the 9X which delayed its release for the better part of 6 months as I recall. Either that or they're just ill informed .

In any case guys, before you spend your hard earned money on a radio with no software upgradeability, I would insist on a detailed and comprehensive list of the full features and capabilities of the radio.

Yeah, they've made it known that they are modifying the software and they might do so nearly up until the release.

Just as we have no absolute confirmation that the DSM12X will have a swash detail menu, we also do not know for certain that it can't have its software updated. Perhaps this is something that Horizon has implemented. It would be a very good thing. The fact that it has a USB connection to a computer would certainly make it a possibility. I think it is a poor decision on JR's part to not make this a part of every 12X radio worldwide.

But here anyway we are left wondering until we get a final feature list from Horizon.

That said, from what has been released and from what we do know today, it's clearly a great system and I'm not hesitant at all to be on the waiting list. If these additional features come to be, then it is even better.

I still hope they keep their May date though, further out than that I may lose my patience.

Also, the firmware upgrade option... We are not paying for a cheap radio! This is a flagship model!
