Scott Cathy got his 12 Friday. He had it down at the Kennett, MO fun fly this weekend. He was going thru it trying to figure things out, didn't get a manual yet.

Just curious.. I was in the s.plate type (Page 39) and there is one in the list that called my attention.
2 servos 180 degrees. How this works? There is any Heli in the market with this system? I know about 90-120 & 140 degrees, but this is the first time I see 180 degrees.

I spoke with the a JR rep at SEFF and he told me the radio shipps on the 15th of this month to dealers. It will include a nice case, a neckstrap, and some coupons for some other JR stuff. I dont recall everything which was said. It has some really neet programming features and the flight timers are assignable to the throttle stick. You can also tell the timer at which point to start (100 points). The screen is a much higher resolution than on the 9303 and is backlit. All of the switches are assignable to what ever you want them to be.

It coming fellas. I placed an order already.

The blade CX is a two servo swash that controls collective/lift via rotor speed.

I doubt very much all switches are assignable to whatever you want them to be. They are limited to a selection of functions listed in the menu. That is, the flight mode and gear switch will not be able to change from right to left side. Besides, the PCM transmitter's module are not backward compatable or I would have got myself one from Japan several months ago.

Every one of the eight switches on the 12X can be assigned to be any function. The Flight Mode (AUX3) switch and/or Gear switch could be anywhere you wanted. This is described clearly in the manual:

Quote
The 12X provides the ability to change the standard default
switch assignments for the GEAR, FLAP, AUX2, AUX3, AUX4,
AUX5, AUX6, and AUX7 channels. Changing the switch
assignments is a matter of preference. The standard switch
assignments may be changed in the Devic.SEL function
contained in the SYSTEM MODE.

Can you change switch assignments per model or is it on a system level? Different assignments for helis and planes could be useful.

I like the virtual cyclic ring as I fly both heli's and planks. I have a cyclic ring on my 9303 and it's great for heli's but sucks for planks as you have to roll off a bit of aileron at the extremes when using elevator etc.

How many would go for the 12X with module instead of the dedicated 12X 2.4? Would be great to not have to upgrade all receivers right now and who knows if there was ever any problem with a 2.4 link at any venue you could always change to 72 mhz..Except I'd never again run 72 mhz on a ccpm machine because servo sync isn't available and I'd like to avoid the dancing swash I once had. My question is....are all 12X radios going to be 2.4 changeable to 72 mhz with module....ie is the "dedicated" one simply offered with a 2.4 RX only whereas the 2.4/72 mhz version only offered with two modules and no rx?

Seems to me the main advantages of this radio are and why to buy.

1. equal to the programming features of the futaba offering
2. easier to program (the 9303 is the easiest radio to program period and it's the same for the 12x)
3. Looks nicer than the futaba radios (personal preference here)
4. Virtual cyclic ring
5. switch assignability
6. better ccpm interaction reduction
7. servo slow on heli programming as well with scale applications in mind
8. Plenty of mixes so future proofing for scale apps/ jets/ sailplanes etc etc
9. high res/low latency on either 72 mhz or 2.4
10. Backlit screen although not a biggy for me

In fact I just went into the jr12X manual I down loaded and the features including extras over the 9303 are pretty extensive so I can't list them all here.
If I only have one radio instead of a few this will be it.
I dont feel the need to buy a 14mz at 2k when I can get this for 1.4 k. Anyway....I honestly don't like the look of the 14mz. Their 12 channel radio looks better. With that huge screen the 14mz always looks like it has a gaping mouth...stupid I know but the case just doesn't do it for me...Looks kinda toyish and hokey with the colors etc. The understated 12X is more to my liking. Sorry for any 14mz lovers that have been harmed in any way by this opinion.
