e-E-Sky Honey Bee- Lama- Belt CP- E-Smart > hovering in control on 2nd pack

I bought my brother A HBK2 for christmas. My brother has no previous heli experience other then an Air Hogs Havoc Heli. I will start by saying that my brother is known for being quite good at things very quickly. I will also say that the Honey Bee King 2 is and absolute gem to fly right out of the box.

Pack one:
Being the nice younger brother I am I spent the first quarter of the first pack trimming it out for him. Then I gave him the sticks. He of course had some trouble keeping the tail at 6 O'clock but he started to get that by the end the first pack. Alot of the first pack he was still just trying to keep everything nice and straight on the ground with very little lift.

Pack two:
He went right into it after watching me fly my Blade 400 at a dead calm nearly hands free hover. This time he got a bit more agressive with collective. Within a minute he was hovering for between 10-30+ seconds without drastic movement or having to slam down the collective. He just made nice small corrections. I will bet he had one run close to a minute or more of nice in control hovering. It was unbelievable.

Before tonight I have never flown the HBK2. I had only watched a buddy of mine take his out of the box and fly it. I was thuroughly impressed with how well it flew and how stable it was in a hover. All my brother did was take it out of the box and read these forums of what to do to it make sure it was air worthy. These forums and my buddies short demo flight are what lead me to beg my LHS to carry the HBK2 so I could buy one for my brother for christamas and so he could buy parts for it right there in the store. My LHS has since sold the all Honey Bee King 2's they had and is ordering more.

I think I'm still in shock........Great litte heli and great talent...I guess some got it.

Man - another padawan with an elevated heli-mitichlorian count. Must be the 'roids and genetic tampering in modern food.

How about a point-by-point comparison between the King and B400 regarding construction and flight characteristics? Also, compatible parts descriptions would be nice. LHS will never carry Esky stuff around here - the owner claims he's never heard of Esky (riiight...), but they are getting in the Blade 400's and parts.

Not asking for much, eh?

most LHS entered an agreement with Eflite not to sell a competitor product. Thats why the excuse they never heard of them. I am really surprised phillcopter was able to do just this at his LHS. Ifyou cant have pepsi and coke next to each other wheres the business in that. Thats why Eflite can produce junk and keep the bigger part of the market.

EFlite mafia will always win. This seems like an act of terrorism to me.

Anyway glad to hear you got someone into the hobby thats the important thing.

Well my brother flew his third pack tonight on his HBK2. This time he pretty much trimmmed it out himself and then took the training gear off. Yes the force is strong with this one. More unreal performance for someone who is just on their 3rd pack. At this rate he will be doing crack flips by next week. His Honey Bee King 2 must be magic.

As far as the Belt cp goes I cannot comment for I have never seen one in person.

To compare the Blade 400 and the King2 I can. Well as most of you and I now know the King2 is as about as easy to fly as they come as far as collective pitch helis are concerned. The gyro on the King is a bit soft but that will only make you a better pilot in the long run. I would upgrade to a heading hold gyro and brushless motor after basic hovering was mastered. I have already and will continue to recommend the Honey Bee King 2 as a first heli to anyone who is seriously wanting to learn to fly r/c helis as a hobby and not just for fun around the house. If you want a toy helicopter buy a co-axial like a Lama or Blade cx2. There is of course nothing wrong with having both or more.

The Blade 400 is in a larger class of heli than the HBK2. The B400 is closer to the size of a Belt cp. The 400 flys perfectly balanced out of the box. Once trimmed the 400 will hover hands off breifly. It does however have a great deal more power so if you have only flown 300 size helis like the King2 the head speed will be overwhelming at first. It reacts very quickly to the absolute smallest amount of input on the sticks. The nice thing is the sensitivity or exponential as it is called can be adjusted on DX6i TX. If ya don't want a B400 I still recommend DX6i for your Honey Bee King 2. Great radio for the money. The over all construction f the heli is fantastic just nothing binds or gets in the way of another moving part. I am not sure if part sharing other than maybe servos or other electronics can be swapped. As I said they are in a different size class.
Not to say that a first timer couldn't learn to fly on the 400. I just wouldn't recommend it. It does fly better than the HBK2 by far. It's just that it can get away from you a lot faster and a lot more damage could be done to the heli, yourself and others.

May the force be with us all. It sure the heck is with my brother.

My headspeed is 2500+rpm with a brushlesss setup. thats why most of us reccomend a brushless rig from the start. The B400 talk doesnt belong here. Its not your fault You just live on Horizons doorstep and dont know any better.

Eflite can shove the Bhole400 where the sun don't shine. I would buy a Trex first same price at least Align tries to make good products. There are already page after page of B400 fixes for a out of the box 3D machine. And I would not buy a DX6 at all maybe a 7 but I would rather own a full spectrum radio then a channel jumper.

Ill believe the Bcrap when they get 300+ flights on them without the linkages falling off like the BCPP did. Anything said now is just still hype over a new heli.lets just sit back wallygoat and see what happens over the next year.

Has anyone else had similar experiences such as this? Learning to fly so quickly and not having to replace a single part. He had one tip over his first pack but it didn't even break the skin on his main blades. He forgot his training gear the very first time he tried to fly and tipped it over and quit. Then we went and got his training gear. After that its been magic.

Good luck to anyone with a new HBK2. They are worth every penny and more compared to anything out there. I believe it is in class by itself
