Sure you can use the 1000mah batts with the 3800 motor. You will just have shorter run times than with a larger batt.

yep but only gonna see 3-4 minutes but be careful I think those only have a 10c discharge and may get hot but do change the connectors the JST wont last long and it will be hard on the batteries discharging them that fast. But if you change the connectors and keep an eye on them you will be ok for hovering. And allow time to cool before charging.

I recommend anything of the 15C version 1350-1800mah. the megapower packs from helidirect are $27. And those have the align, eflite, esky balance charge plug so no adapter is needed and can be charged with the stock charger just takes a bit longer. You can also find some real good deals on ebay but be careful some are from hong kong shipping will be pricey and slow.

i get a solid 7 min out of my 10 1000mha stockies and while incredibly hot(150-160 deg) im not over discharging them. i know this cause after my timer beebs its death cry, i can still punchout pretty good. i got a 11tooth gear on there as well. i think the cold air helps some how cause i noticed the same type of thing on my old bcppro.

I wish I was good at this

thats some awesome flight time I only get 7min out of a 1500mah. With a HDX3800rpm outrunner w/fan on a 30 amp esc and 10t pinion. I got no friction either all lubed up with cnc parts. Maybe the extra weight is whats bringing the flight time down. Or my gy240 is just hogging power I only dream of those kind of flight times. Its 50 degrees today I timed with a stopwatch a flight I got 6.5min and brought the pack down to 9% (yes I got a fancy charger that tells me so)left but the good news is its not hardly warm.

im not under any imperssion tha my pack are liking the heat but the brisk 5 to 15 deg the last few weeks is probly helping no mid air fire. my flights arent very acrobatic. or in idle up mode so im not wind out the motor terribly. probly translates in a min or two.
