Ok here we go more questions....I bought a 3800 mtr and a 25 amp esy esp...the esp has deans connetor on the batt leads.. what is the best way? change the plugs on my batt to deans ...i,m sure there are a lot of opinions about this.........

ESP? You mean ESC? Anyway, changing the battery-lead connector to Deans is probably the easiest, quickest way. Don't bother changing the ESC connector to JST. You need a higher amp-rated connector for the current the motor pulls.

Pumping your fist and yelling, "COME ON!!!" does not increase battery charge rate.

hi
a lot of batteries will come with deans ultras on them from new , use bullet connectors between the ESC and motor , and i probably don't need to mention this , but be sure to have the female deans on the battery , cut , solder and insulate ( use heat shink tubing ) , one wire at a time , when soldering battery connectors , i will fold the other wire back over the battery and hold it there with tape or a rubber band , to keep it out of the way

yes , i have heard of people using diagonal cutters to cut both leads at the same time , and trust me if you cross the connectors on a lipo , with the tip of your soldering pencil , you will wish you haden't , HTH , dana

I do this all the time and have no problems. The Spektrum radios (and I assume Futaba does as well) have a fail safe system where the reciever will not send any commands to servos or ESC until its receiving a signal from the Tx. Unfourtanely it doesn't prevent you from bumping the throttle or idle up switch (Ouch!) I usually switch to throttle hold when I'm not flying to prevent such accidents. But occassionally I forget, and the heli gives me a friendly reminder

I've been looking at this too and its hard to use anything but the deans because like mentioned, alot of batteries come with em. Also they are pretty cheap to buy. Some sellers even include the male connectors too. Doesn't appear to be a single seller on Ebay selling the Align bullet type yet there are lots of Deans sellers.

hi
running a switch is a problem because with the involved amperages , it has to be pretty big ( huge ) , one thing that helps with the deans , is to texture the sides to make them easier to unplug , HTH , dana

please don't do as i did, my son asked why it was so hard to unplug the deans, i told him that the clpis on the male terminal add friction the the connection to keep it from coming loose, well i let him find out for himself, and well i took the clips off and it kinda connected and slipped apart...lesson learned, son i didn't get all this gray hair from nothing, lots of trial and error, and your mother, too

i suck at this, but having the time of my life with it!

hi
the clips are probably the one down side to the deans ultra , the spring on the positive tab is between the two tabs , and if you don't keep half an eye on it when plugging it together it can buckle and short the two tabs together , they really should have had it on the opposite side of the male tab , i have never had one fail , but i have heard of someone on RR that had this happen , kiss the battery goodbye

Those reasons are why I switched to the align plug they are still tight partially due to the plastic housing but they loosen with age. And still make a good connection.

I use the Deans and they do actually break in with time and get easier to use. For me it was money again, I got like 10 pairs for like 10 bucks on Fleabay or something like that.

I actually talk to it first a little, no need to rush, then slowly, not straight in but gently, work it in without effort, sometimes trying to hard is worse than not trying at all, its a fine line, a hairy edge, so to speak !!

I ran my deans plugs over a soldering iron and they loosened up.
