e-Century Hummingbird - Swift > Hummingbird (FEDA) forward flight problems!

I bought one of those Hong Kong, just like the Hummingbird, FEDAS and in a hover, it holds great. But as soon as forward flight began, the trouble started...it wouldn't stop! I pulled back on the sticks but it kept going foward faster and faster, with little responds from the sticks other than right and left cyclic. After a smack against the wall and no damage (this thing's tough) , I inspected the servos and nothing was wrong.

I had heard that the Piccolo had the same problems and stiffer blades was the answer. Does anyone have any suggestions? And if stiffer blades is the answer, does the Hummingbird (feda, skylark, ect) have and fixed pitched blades available that are stiffer.

Thanks!

welcome to the world of fixed pitch. you have to find that medium when in forward flght. remember that as you slow down and use less throttle, you will loose altitude. make it a gradual descent and you should be fine. the hummingbirds are awesome little helis!!

Thanks Al.
I agree with you on the desent, but how do I get more control. Even when I'm in a hover, the heli seems like it's one second behind on the response. My gas helis, on the other hand, respond to my every input.

Does anyone sell fixed blades that are carbon fiber, or other upgrades for the Hummingbird?

The slow response is just the nature of the beast. You can try turning up your atv's depeneding on the TX your using. But with all fixed pitch models, especially the micros, you'll have some delay in your inputs.

Slow Response

Fixed pitch is naturally slower to respond compared to collective helis.

What I've found on my hummingbird is the way the servos are attached
that made it more worst in the response...
If you used the provided double adhesive tape which is a little bit thick
"soft and mushy", which results in the serveos to move with every input from your transmitter stick.

Replace the double adhesive tape with a thinner and w/ stronger adhesive..and also shim the servo either on the top or bottom portion
to make it more rigid "no noticeable movement on the servo body". That way, all your inputs will be translated positively to the swashplate.

Hummingbird is a very good forward flyer.
