| inverted flight is pretty hard. im a relitivly slow leaner but i have only done normal flight for about a year. some people are a bit faster and can pick it up faster. but its still hard. the head locking gyro helps keep the tail refrenced to the main rotor, or pointed in the direction. like where you left it regardless of wind or a manuver. this helps you concetrate on acual flight instead of trying to keep it pointed in the right direction. alot of gyros have dual rates, one is locked, you can move the tail but it shouldnt drift. the other is called a "rate" mode it will drift to where the wind wants it to go but dampened. like a tail wants to follow on an airplane. in locked mode it would allow you to fly sideways fast without the tail deviating. rate mode would spin around so the heli is pointed in the direction of flight. sorry to rammble on. i hopes this answers your question.
