Yes, I have been hearing from people about the article myself, but I have not gotten my issue of the AMA magazine. Although I already know what the article says, I am really looking forward to getting it. Went to the mailbox today and there was no magazine, so maybe before the end of the week it will arrive

This year there is even more buzz so far then last year and we all know how much fun last year was

Newbie Contests?

Just wondering....

I've had my little Blade 400 since Christmas. I'm OK. I've only crashed twice. I can do some flips, loops and rolls. Any contests or challenges for us relatively new guys?

SRC/ show up and flying

Flying will be from sunup to sundown Friday and Saturday, with things slowing down around noon on Sunday usually. We will have staff there early in the mornings.
All levels of flying are welcome, as there are plans for everyone, so do not hold back regardless of you flying skill level,.. this is a funfly for all levels.

Registration will be open pretty early every day. There will be drawings for registered pilots, and raffles for a top of the line heli and other items to be announced.

Just received the August edition of the AMA Magazine
and the SRC has a fantastic article in it on the 2008
event.
One of the best done and well spoken columns that
I have every seen in the AMA mag.

Just goes to show you what a well thought out event
this is going to be.

My hat is off to you guys.

Guys I am glad that people are enjoying the article and hopefully it will bring more attention to the SRC event this year.
However, I am jealous because I wish I had gotten my issue of the AMA magazine. Some people got their issue Monday but I still have NOT gotten mine. Even though I have the exact draft of the article I was kind of disappointed when I opened the mail box and no magazine. Hopefully it will arrive in another day or two

Yes, I do have some more information about the heli but if I was to tell you on the forum it would not be a tease

I think it is a helicopter that a lot of people will like and I tell you what. If you PM me and promise not to tell anyone, I "might" tell you what kind of helicopter it is?

We want to keep it a surprise a little longer. After IRCHA gets through with there big show then we will be posting a lot more details about the SRC!

Everyone Bring their Night Blades and Night Flying Helicopter, you are only experiencing half the fun if you don't night fly.

Here is neat link from the Heli Blaze held in June that some people might enjoy seeing. I thought it might be nice to post it on the SRC link so people could see it, I am sure Ron would not mind. Look forward to seeing all the DFW guys at the Southern Rotary Classic as well

SRC

I was set with my spare carbon fiber main blades, tail blades and new canope to show off in September. While practising at a local field my Blade 400 threw a blade. A heli does not fly to well with one wood blade. I heard a 'th-osh'. and a blade went one way, parts and pieces went into the air and my flycam went another direction. I was only four feet off the ground. It sucked. The other guys watching said all they heard was a wierd sound and parts went everywhere....

I have upgraded to some nice Curtis Youngblood blades and have a new canope ready to add on. I think, also, that I blew the speed controler as well. Got to go back to the LHS to see what is going on. Nothing powers up now.

So.... I guess I have to be sure not to crash until after the SRC with my nice new stuff on it.

The SRC is getting closer, yes... My anticipation is also going up....

Crashes happen

Don't feel bad, I was doing some loops tail first late yesterday afternoon and as I was sliding down from doing one, something went wrong with the helicopter and it lost tail control and just plowed over into the ground
So I got to get it fixed. There goes another 150 dollars, but at least I have more then one helicopter to fly
But your right, do fly and have fun but don't let anything happen until at least after the SRC

I am in for the Novice contest. Can't wait to check the SRC.

Actually, novice means what? A few months? 1 or 2 months? Still learning? Asking because at the time the SRC is happening, I'll have only 2 months of flying a heli.

It's kind of hard to define but it is suppose to be for those that are starting out. You could be a very fast learner like Jamie Robertson was. In two months he was well on his way to doing full 3D. On the other hand there are people that have had helicopters for years and never spent much time with them and are still novice.

So it really kind of depends upon your skill level as well as the amount of time you have been flying.

I have seen people as recently as this year that are doing flips and other beginning 3D stuff and listed as novice but I am not sure that is a novice.

It is all in fun and we will ask people to be honest about there ability and if they are just getting starter or they are at the beginning stages or starting to fly then they are welcome to enter the novice contest, but to make it fair to those that are starting out we would prefer not to see someone enter in the novice contest and hovering upside down a few feet above the ground later on in the day.

If you having only been flying for a few months then by all means enter the novice contest. But if you really are an intermediate or better consider entering the non sponsored demo contest.
