Hey Guys,

Been kinda wanting to asking this, and since my parts are still inbound, I guess now is as good a time as any. My stock pro-gyro never turns on green or blue after spin up. It just quits blinking red, and stays steady red. Is this an issue? I've watch subzero's vids and his changes color after spin up, actually changes colors on the led. I do have a Telebee gyro inbound with a new JR servo for the tail, but was gonna save it for when I get better at this thing. But depending on y'alls answers on the led indications, I may just have to install it once I get the other parts in.

Thanks for your time,

JC

The stock gyro never turns green, it just goes solid red. If I were you I would put the Telebee gyro and servo on. It will take some of the edge off of the learning curve.

JC, When you say stock-pro gyro, do you mean the silver one(rate) or the black and blue HH gyro ????

It's the...

Silver one. Looks like a Tuperware bowl (Barbie size)upside down. It came with the RTF package I bought from Brian (11BKM). Seems to kinda work makes the tail kinda behave. I've been reading about y'alls experience with the tail , so I bought the Telebee and the JR 185. Also since I had to buy a new fixed main shaft, I went ahead and bought one spare of each of the main head parts (minus the bearings) and shafts from Brian. I know this may have been veiwed as "overkill" by some seeing as I only needed one part to fix her after my latest attempt, but since parts have to be ordred from elsewhere (cause nobody local carries these) I thought it would be a good Idea to keep some stuff on hand.

Yup. The stock mixing-bowl gyro never goes green. Solid red means it's ready.

One caveat concerning the servo - the JR S185 rotates in the opposite direction of the stock servos. Theoretically, you should be able to fix this by reversing the RUD switch on the TX and the direction switch on the gyro. But, others and I have encountered some strange anomalies associated with going this route with the stock TX.

The best way to use a reverse-rotation servo on the King's tail is by unclipping the control rod from the guide clips (they're useless - only good for binding), and flipping the servo arm over so that the ball-link points down instead of up. Move the servo up one set of holes on the mount to keep the control rod at a comfortable angle to the tail box.

I unclipped those things on day one, and haven't had any tail control issues.

I have a Telebee 6g with a JR S185. Killer combo for the price.

Pumping your fist and yelling, "COME ON!!!" does not increase battery charge rate.

On the subject of gyros here...

If anyone has a rate gyro (cheap) that may have been used (cheap) and abused (cheap) that they want to part with (cheap) and are willing to sell (cheap) or trade (cheap) please let me know.

I'm scrounging together a cheap blue-foam sailplane that'll carry a small cheap digital camera and would like to put a cheap gyro on the rudder to keep it in line when it gets windy.

I'll take most anything working as long as it's like me, which is:

Cheap, Cheap, Cheap !!!
