Align T-REX 600N 700N > New Rotorworkz 2mm G-10 Frame

Wow - this frame is really building up nice!

I am really liking this frame. The only issue I have is that it is not as bling bling as carbon fiber, and it doesn't look as cool as the silver G-10 Align Frame. But most of the frame is covered by the canopy anyway!!

I do like G-10 in that it doesn't conduct electricity like carbon fiber, and therefore it is not prone to glitching. A very strong point in favor of G-10. I decided to go with Align's frame braces at the landing gear mounting points instead of the ones from Rotorworkz. Up front this heli is very strong and rigid. This heli is building into an incredibly strong, rigid frame.

The 2mm frame sides came in at 28 gms heavier per side than the 1.6 Align G-10. That's only 2 ounces total, but the tradeoff is a far more rigid, stronger frame. You should see it and hold it and try to twist it and move it around, words can not do justice to how much stiffer this thing is. Structural integrity is extremely important to high performance such that all the power is transmitted to the main blades and tail and not used to generate flex.

I only wish someone made a similar frame brace as the one up front for the engine mounts. The way the frame sticks out at that point lends itself to bending. The 2mm frame goes a long way in stiffening it, but a brace there would do wonders to strengthen that area which would help to reduce vibrations.

Not only is this frame building up strong, but so far the alignment is great too. Right now that main shaft falls right into place under its own weight, a testament to Rotorworkz’ quality.

The nice thing about the G10 kit is that $80 gets you both side frames and the bottom plate. Great deal!

Yes I want the frame stiffeners right away, here is a picture of Mandy's crashed heli. I think the frame stiffeners would have kept it from breaking at the attachment points...

Why is the black carbon so much more $$ than the silver?

Are the silver made with the same stuff that makes the align frames yellow, or are they higher quality?

Also, can just the two sides be used to replace stock side without getting the bottom plate?

USE LINUX!

The Rotorworkz silver frames dont turn yellow like the align ones do. Rotorworkz silver frames are built out of a different material. The reason black carbon is more is because of the demand of black carbon.

I got the fan hub on Sunday. Yes, Mandy also bent the fan and fan hub! I didn't notice until mounting the governor sensor that the fan was bent. Doh!

That was a good crash!

Anyway, the fan/clutch is now dial indicated and balanced and installed. Everything is built now except for servos and electronics. Should be ready to fly next weekend.

I am also building this frame after a crash. I have been very happy with them. What I like most is the press in servo mounting nuts. No more fiddling with the plastic do hickies behind the servos for mounting. Thats a big bonus.

Rockohaulic,
Frames look good. I thought they had threaded inserts installed in the servo holes. Do you have to install them? I'm waiting to break my originals and I will get them too. Also you might consider these braces they do work in closing the weak link left between bottom of the right and left frames

Still liking the new frame. Mandy did have a crash with this new frame - and it didn't break. I do have Align CF frame braces at the landing gear front and back.

This frame is a great value.

I did not use the inserts for the servos. I thought they were a serious pain in the butt! I attempted to put one in with a C-clamp, and it was time consuming and difficult. I decided that it was much easier to use the Align plastic servo plates, plus they are lighter. I put a drop of ca on the servo plate and hold it in place with needle nose pliers. very simple install.
