waiting on my HBK-2 and I have some left over parts from my walkera #36. I was wondering if the 3200KV motor with 10th would be OK with the stock plastic head. My figures show a head speed of 2283 RPM

thats appears to be calculated so youll only get about 75% of that when the motor is loaded and that may be a little slow. I would think the motor would be fine esky uses a 3100 but the 10t may be a little to small I used an 8t on a 3800 and it was like flying a bubble more than a heli very easy to control but wind would beat it up give ups and downs.

Oh the reason I dont trust calculators is mine is a hdx3003800rpm 10t pinion. that calculates to 2950rpm thats just not true. The reason I say 75% is thats where your gonna be running the throttle in normal mode in a hover.

Im sorry I seen walkera parts I just assumed you already fly fairly well? If Im right I thought you would be depressed with that setup it would just be a stable hoverer. I dont loop or roll I just do some FFF and stall turns but You need to get up to 25 to 2600rpm calculated speed before you can get her goin. I have changed my flyin style I fly only idle-up the heli becomes more stable with the high headspeed Im running 85% at 0 pitch and it flies so much nicer than normal the only time I fly normal is in my dining room.

No not that good. When i got the walkera I did the brushless and CNC upgrades and was doing good howevers. what they say about walkera electrics is true (CRAP)I could be in a nice hover and all of the sudden it would take off one way or another with no input. So I bought the HBFP and have flowen that almost daily for 4 or 5 months. lately I have been flying in 10 to 15 MPH winds. NO problems even doing some pretty good spot landings. Now it's time to grow up and fly the KING. I have been following both you and fender and sometimes I even smell a bigfoot or was that a goat? anyway Iam truly addicted. Already want purple stuff. Don't know if I want to cuss or thank all of you Iam having too much fun

Hi Bill, tryan is right about the calculated headspeed, its almost ALWAYS lower that what you think is. I'm running a 15 t pinion on a 3800 kv so I should at about 4000 headspeed. There is no freakin way, Its probably 3000 at best. What I always do is try it and see for myself and if it works, I use it.
I had a Walkera 60 for a VERY short period of time. I think you will like the King alot better than the Walkera.

Hey doug thanks for the input. So what I understand is go ahead and try the 12th pinion and see what she does. I just do not want to tear up the plastic parts all ready.

A 3200 KV and 12 tooth, Sure, that sounds safe. The plastic head cannot withstand as much as CNC for sure. But if you think about most of the centifical force on the main rotor is being applied on the spindle or feathering shaft. The centrifical force wants to shoot the blades outward. I think a bigger danger with high headspeeds on a plastic head is the wood blades getting ripped out of the grips as apposed to the Plastic head actually blowing apart. Just my Opinion Bill

Thanks Doug. The King should be at my house tomarrow. to bad I wont see it till Friday when I get home (I drive truck for a living) I have A 10 12 & 14 pinion. I think I will fly it stock first then put the brushless in and start with the 12t I will let you know haw it goes.. Once again thank you and everyone on this forum ya'll are very helpful.

Dont do it bill the stock brushed motor has been known to smoke even on the first flight. Swap it out as soon as you get it no reason to risk dropping it on the first flight when you dont have too. Yes the stock motors are that bad I was gonna try mine just to get the heli setup It wasnt broke in it was shooting blue flame and burning hot. that spoolup was the last thing I ever did with the brushed motor and do not regret it.

If you want to use a headspeed calculator feed the king with about 2500 calculated rpm will make for around 1800 actual which will be about right for the king good smooth stable flyer.

good move no reason to relearn the heli after a powerplant change anyway.

Bill, you can sell the stock motor and ESC on Ebay and at least get something for it. There are still a few stubborn people out there that will keep buying the stock motor untill they come to thier senses.

Oh, Thats going to be a tough sell. RunRyder doesn't even have a Walkera forum. If I were you Bill and had the time I would sell everything seperately on Ebay. The CNC head, the gyro , the frame, you should get more doe parts sold seperate. So many Walkeras were sold on Flebay over the last two years that there has got to some stubborn Fellers out there needin' parts that just won't part with the thing. Just my 2 penny's Bill.

OK guys got home last night pounced on the box to liberate the king from the box. (Oh happy day) ran it up in stock configureation. you guys were right stock motor got really hot. So I took it apart put in brushless with 12t pinion. checked all the pitch settings. and ballenced the blades. checked every thing over twice. by now it was 3:00 AM and seeing how can't fly in the house. I went to bed. Got up this morning and flew the HBFP just to get the thumbs working right. Now the time has come... I the King out side set her down turn on the TX plug in the battery gyro cycles up I stand back and all at once she goes full on tips on side spits blades and parts all over I have now idea what happend or what caused it Going to LHS to see if they can help. problem is they don't carry E-sky maybe some E-flite parts will??
