I'm using Esky's 1500mah batt's for my HBK2. I have the bigger 3800 motor with a 9t on it and get around 8min. of casual flight.

Hi

I'm using a Max Amps 1100 and a CCRC 1100 I'm old and have old age attention deficit so the 6 to 7 min. of flight time I get out them works for me. I don't like the weight of the bigger packs. Alot of people like the TP pro lites.

Ok...Officially my first newbie post. I just bought a HBK2 kit that comes with an 11.1V 1800mah 12C Li-Polymer Rechargeable Battery. Looks like they go for about $30.00. Do I have alternatives? Should probably pick up at least 2-3 more.

So much to learn, so little money

Those Esky 1800 mAH batteries seem like a good deal. The Megapower bats are close to 30. bucks but there are only 1350 mah so your flight times would be longer with the 1800's. Plus if you are using the ESky stock Li-Po charger you know there won't be any issues with compatibility. The 1800's might also help with the CG of the heli and get a little more weight up front.

I'm running the FMA 1350 packs. Flight times are 8 minutes. FMA doesn't have a pack between 1350 and 2100, otherwise I think I'd running it. The 1350 packs charge in 30 minutes on the FMA Cellpro.

Doug, don't you ever sleep?

I use 3 of the ol' stocker 1000mah/10C Esky Greenies. I get about 5½ - 6½ minutes of trailer-park terrorization and empty-lot desecration, with the occasional (but thankfully rare) kite-eating tree decimation.

The batteries get really hot, but all the electronics stay cool to just warm. I can see getting something in the 1200/15C - 1350/15C range, but anything bigger would probably put me at the point of diminishing returns.

Besides, after 6 minutes of riding the "Tail of the Dragon" that is the King, I'm ready for a break.

The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.

Thanks Doug.

Quick digression on the stock Li-Po charger. If I am only charging from home is there any reason I should upgrade to a different charger and separate balancer?

The stock one says its a balance battery charger with auto-cutoff.

I have been reading lots of battery burnout horror stories.

For the moment I'd say your good, but once you start progressing then you will want a better charger.

from an elite veteran. I would get a cellpro charger ASAP you have to come up with a power supply but the charger and balancer are one. I found My eflite charger would charge the 1350 megapower battery Id go fly and get 6 min hover then battery was dead couldnt lift off. When I got the cellpro I started getting 7 1/2 min hovers with a little room to spare. the stock chargers are passive balance chargers and cant get the batteries to full capacity that a passive charger can.

12v 5A is minimum so you almost got power for 2

FMAdirect.com cellpro4s is the charger to look for it monitors each cell individually so they dont blow up and gives a fuel guage to show you how much you took out and are putting in. has many different charge rates check on your battery which to use.

the reason i ask is be cause im in the same proverbial boat as shizak (the self proclaimed trailer park terror)ha!
i got the green 10c esky batts (3) and they get pretty warm, ok really they get damn hott 158 deg ish and i think its because of the low 10c rating. ther super cheap so ill probly rock em till they become "puffy" revisited!

I wish I was good at this

puffy has gone ragtop he died a few weeks ago. I had the original puffy he was a 1350mah 15c megapower $27 dang thing died after 250 flights not bad huh. I also run them down to they wont liftoff. I abused it and still got that many flights. after 200 flights it would start to barely warm your hands your killing those other batteries you need to get some replacements before you have no lipos that sucks I know.
