HDX-500SE has very slow cyclic response, so I would like to create this new thread to get your opinions for modifying the part to get a quicker cyclic response. Hopefully, this will take the attention of the manufacture, so they will create new upgrade parts for HDX-500SE. Thanks.

Here are a few mods that I found so far.

- Shorter flybar
- Taller head block
- Longer tail blade
- Lighter paddle

Update...

Currently, Helidirect does not have any upgrade for the SE version, but within a few days (Quoted from Steve), they will have the SE upgraded parts for 3D flying.

Hi;

I saw a new taller head and shorter mixing arms newly listed, on Helidirect upgrade parts for the 500. I will need to try those.

Also the 13 tooth cnc tail pulley seems to help with tail rotor control. I am using Lepton carbon fiber tail blades with the 13 tooth and it seems to work so far.

I have also read that some are using Trex 600 carbon paddles, but I am not sure if they cut them down a little or leave them stock. It also looks like the flybar will need to be cut off and rethreaded to fit the 600 paddles. I have a couple of 500's with the standard black paddles and one with the light weight white paddles and the responce does seem better on the light paddles.

I have also used modified Trex vertical fins on my 500's to get the tail rotor out of the dirt and switched to a Hirobo gear that is a little taller and so far it seems to work well.

I have also read that the 500 has better responce when the middle or upper hole in the main shaft is used, which gets the head closer to the frame. Apparently it cuts the total cyclic down a little, but helps in overal responce, since the weight is closer to the head.

Jim.

A shorter flybar will slow cyclic response.

This is the new frame with larger main gear, frames are tilted up to get the tail out of the dirt, and taller head-block. I'm using a flybar and paddles from a trex 500 and do not have the NEW mixing arms and NEW flybar cage installed yet.
