I guess it will with a 70 then never really did the math or the research I just assumed that it had the same powerband and rpm range as the 90.

I want 2k+ HS so for me thats pushing the 70 IMHO

I originally wanted to do a 70 but I have been thinking more here lately that I want a 90 I know the 8.7 wont work with a 90 and the HS I seek.

I think John is going to ask you what elevation you will be running at? I think he will tell you the 91 is too much power at sea level or similar. The 70 at lower altitudes will work well.
I hope he will chime in here.

Actually one of the things we're fiddling with is how an 84T main gear 1 works with the 61 and the 70, which may be just what the doctor ordered. Frankly, it's too soon to tell - please stand by folks.

Test hop

I ran a few tanks of fuel thru the new 61 today. Plenty of power and did a test hover with rock pantera results. Then it started snowing again.

What is with you guys and snow out there?! Here in Ohio/Indiana I rode my bicycle 105 miles yesterday, rode my Ninja motorcycle this afternoon and flew the Tiger this evening. It's April Bill. Tell someone to turn it off!
Glad to hear you got it off the ground if nothing else.

Marty,
I keep putting in the order for spring. We are 30% above the normal snow fall for the year. It snowed again today. I have been flying my 400 3D in the shop just to get some stick time.
We should be in the 50's by then end of the week.

LOL...we need all that snow here as we don't get much rain in the summer. Forest fires can be a very big concern for us. I live in one of sunniest areas in Canada. When it snows, it snows though. Love it here, wouldn't change it for anywhere else.

Herc,
LOL, If you had a bit less snow. You could be flying your Pantera and Tiger instead of dragging silly skiers off the mountains.
Cheers

Not that I know of. JB has been off with his mum. Knowing him and his flight crew things are rolling along. I see him chime in on a few posts durring his vacation. That tells me his laptoy is burning the midnight oil. I would expect when something new pops up he will launch a flare and let us know.

Yippeee.
I spun my make shift drive today. The ship has awsome power. I just need to harness the sucker.

Yup the bolt on the engine shaft.
I thought for a moment the motor got on the pipe.
I used your mod and I'm thinkin that it was not tight enough.

I guess here is as good a place as any to ask this. The Pantera for me was my first 50. So I am clueless about anything larger.
I have a 2nd Pantera and the thought crossed my mind that since I need an engine, why not go bigger. So...that being a good possibility, what do I need to change, electronically speaking.

Will a 401 w/ a 9254 servo be OK?

How about JR 4131's on everything else?

Is there an engine anyone likes particularly well?

How about a muffler?

Now I am not flying any 3D but I am working on it. In all honesty, a 50 is probably all I will ever need. But just in case I get an itch, would be good to know.

The 401/9254 will do you just fine until you get into high, high speed backwards flight then the tail might blow out on you. If you do the BBC, the OS70 is the engine to go to because you cant get cylinder liners for the OS61 anymore and today's 50's make as much or more hp than the 61 and are a half pound lighter in installation. That said, I love the OS61 as an engine, as a piece of machinery. Very well designed, well made and durable. I just wish we could still get the cylinder liners. Consider using the OS50hyper with the MP5 muffler and a CarbSmart and governor or the Thunder Tiger Redline .53 the same way. MUCH lighter than a BBC, plenty of parts support and more power than you'll ever use.
