OK I’m on battery 4 & 5 from Radd’s School. You know, powering up and keeping the bird in the box….
I am having some problems. I can’t get the Helo to move forward or to the right? If I add more speed I can get it to tilt forward but not move forward (the rear of the landing gear lifts up). As I add right aileron, it tilts to the right but still shuffles to the left. Am I not giving it enough gas?
I have checked all the ball joints and the swash plate looks good. I think the pitch is correct but I’m not sure I am using the pitch gauge correctly. If I am the pitch is about -2 degrees at zero speed (Stick down) and about 9 at full throttle.
I am in the process of extending the battery tray, my CG is just a little behind center.
Anything else I need to look for?

Just increase your pwr some more.

Personally I never liked jumping the thing up and down. I just ended up breaking the thing.

Keep it up and soon you'll be flying around.

if you have the rubbe snubbers on the skids take them off and find a nice smooth surface (Gym Floor) to do the "slider" moves..... it will help you a ton to get the feel of how the heli reacts to small stick inputs when you lite on the skids.....

dont let the king CG bother you the heli likes to back up a bit no big deal. If you got balls go for it 3/4 is where the heli is gonna fly so be ready dont get too high so when you freak out just drop it pull it back in the box and repeat repeat repeat repeat you get the picture. Good luck I think Im just as excited as you ooohhhh first liftoff.

pitch is perfect go for it just go slow when you lift off be ready for the slide left the tailspin and the backup and correct for all nothing too it.

I guess I’m a’lil gun shy. I’m in the basement tonight, tight on space. If it lifts off there are only about 10 things for it to hit.
I have a 2’ x 4’ cabinet grade piece of plw for my test site. Surly that’s smooth enough. Weather permitting, I’ll move outside tomorrow, see if I can catch some air (just a little) .
I have a popsicle stick attached to support the battery, HERE WE GO, one more time!!

Thanks

If your in a tight space don't try to lift off yet just get the feel for the stick movements and wait for tomorrow to get outside with some room...

Well I just finished my second battery for the night. I still can’t get it to stop moving to the left!
Now I have to wait for the charger to do its thing… Speaking of chargers, what’s a good one that doesn’t take so long to charge?

Thanks for your help!
My local hobby shop is hard core E-Flite, doesn’t think too much of E-Sky. I don’t get a worm and fuzzy feeling there so I’m reluctant to ask for much help.
I get better info from y’all by far!!
Thanks again!

I spoke to a "guy in the biz" recently and asked him about this. He told me that Horizon Hobby - the distributor of Eflite, Align, JR, Spektrum... - has a no-compete-type clause in their contracts/agreements. Exceptions include "partner" companies - Ultrafly, Heli-Max, and a few others.

Take this for what it is: Something somebody posted on the internet that was already just "reliable" hearsay.

Charger - Cellpro. High on my wishlist.

Thanks for the info!
No joking about the extra cheez2 for the 10! I think I’ll keep looking at the 4S.
Being a newbie, I have another question, looking at most of the chargers, I assume they are intended to be charged in the field from a car battery. Do they typically have ports for use with a 120VAC transformer? I did not see reference to one on the 4S or the 10S.
Until I get off the ground (weather did not cooperate ) my flying is indoors and will probably stay indoors or in the backyard for a while.

Typically, no. But there are many guides available on how to turn an old computer power supply into a 12V DC power supply with bare leads. You can clip the leads of the charger onto the PSU just like using a car battery.

I did this to use my Hobbico QFC MkII as an everyday charger, and it works very well. I commonly charge a lipo and the NiMHs in my tx at the same time with it. It maxxes out at only 1 amp charge rate for lipos, though.
