I just got a call from Tower hobbies. The Futaba 12 FGH 2.4 are now available. I decided not to get one though. I will wait for Futaba to catch up with the 2.4 technology. I think they are still way behind and I dont feel comfortable getting a Futaba 12FGH 2.4 right now.

I just bought a Spektrum DX7. I will use that for a while until the new hottness comes out.

Well....they didnt invent 2.4mhz technology... and now they are copying it. I would consider that to be "behind", wouldn't you?

No, not really. Mercedes did not invent the automobile but I would not call them behind either.

What you just said doesn't make sense. As far as my knowledge "Futaba" is one of the oldest names in the radio biz. If we are talking "cars" then I would compare Futaba to Ford. The company has been around since the beginning and has made a solid car, but is choking when it comes to being cutting edge. You can buy your "Ford Futaba"....I will buy my "Mercedes Spektrum DX7". But the only difference is that my Mercedes still gets me from point A. to point B. just like your fORD, but for half the price! LMAO.

Spektrum or XPS didn't "invent" 2.4mhz technology either. Futaba hasn't copied anyone. Their system operates differently than any of the other brands. Futaba has been selling 2.4ghz systems for industrial r/c use for over 15 years. I guess that makes everyone else "behind".

As for which is best, it all depends on what you want. I use Futaba, XPS, and Spektrum and they all work fine. Just pick the one that will do what you want and go for it.

None of the RC companies invented 2.4GHz (not MHz by the way). Spektrum didn't invent it either. All they did was take off the shelf technology and apply it to RC.

not to mention the car guys (including Futaba) were running it well before Spektrum came out with the DX series aircraft radios.
The issue with going to aircraft was getting a full range receiver with adequate channels that will work 100% in any attitude, with gobs of noise.
With all of the companies coming out with full range 7+ channel systems in the past year or so, I would find it hard to call anyone behind.
It could be Futaba did a bit more testing so you do not have a free standing capacitor in the receiver fatigue and break off

Yeah.............Futaba is way behind..............the only 14 ch SS receiver on the market, doesn't require satellite modules in its installation, and it truly hops across ALL frequency choices.

And don't forget, "Al Gore invented the internet."

Or at least he took credit for it on public TV.

Actually they did... first car was a Daimler-benz. Later, Karl made a new model and named it after his daugther... Mercedes

Did you know they invented ABS around 1925? It only came into production decades later and still isn't standart on some cars today...

Tony
