You are still missing the point. It totally depends on the circumstances of the shoot... If it wer just a few guys hanging out of a car making a video amongst the public, it would be outrageously irresponsible.

If on the other hand, the road was closed, and everyone was "an extra", fully briefed on safety etc, no probs at all.

Note that the actual output in either scenario above would be identical, only the circumstances change.

I am not a nervous nellie at all, just stating what to me is obvious.. take appropriate safety precautions and go for it, but just going out in public with a heli is not safe.

Where does it state that this was completed under "controlled cicrumstances and that the road was closed etc".This, along with many other videos on youtube and the like are attracting the wrong message to new fliers that once they can get the heli off the ground anything goes.
Also still looking through the previous posts to see where it stated that this was completed by yet another professional(?) flier, Absolute stupidity.

We would need to locate the final movie to find out if it was a closed set etc. etc. IF the credits even mention the fact. As you know, a lot of YouTube clips...are just clips from larger productions.

However, I'm assuming, and possibly assuming a LOT, in the premise that it wasn't "just some mates flying a heli out of a car". I'm not billy-no-mates, but even I don't have mates driving GT-40s and yet others with an expensive looking turbine powered video platform.

(Even if the guys were extras and actors, there's no real escape plan from a big heli 3 feet away (OK however close it was, don't quote me), unless you're a Jedi.. )

Yep, I'm STILL missing the point. I know I'll be razzed for making this extreme comparison- How many people are at risk when an airliner crashes? A bus? Car? Train? How many people have lethal voltage piped into their homes? I just can't believe how many of you want to tell someone else how to live or what to do!

I don't think anyone is trying to tell people what to do or how to live their life, just point out the DANGERS invovled in flying models in the manner in which they were shown to have been flown, whether by professional or other flyer.
With all the small models now being sold and people using them ,lots are copying the actions of others and unfortunately they appear not to comprehend the difference in size/power/dangers involved in models of differing size/power.
Only a very few on any forum tries to agitate things and surely they can be wheddled out/ignored easily, to get points across.

Well, if anyone needs to be told that it's dangerous, then they need their head examined. I am sorry if I come off as offensive.

Gian thats the problem far to many need there head examined or live with the thought "It won't happen to me or if I do it"
Like with all points of view, you are entitled to express yours, just sometimes the points are picked up differently and then taken out of context.Usually by the minority

It looked pretty sketchy to me. Cool video, sure, but it didn't look like a "closed set" at all. The bottom line is I think they took a lot of unecessary risks to get shots that could have been accomplished in a much safer manner, and that they were lucky nobody got hurt. Is it worth the risk of getting someone seriously injured or killed just to get a shot of them walking under the camera??? (I guess a boom is too expensive) Obviously these guys trust their equipment waay too much. I don't care how long you've been doing this, the instant you let your guard down and take things for granted, you're gonna have a failure. Taking that kind of risk is just plain unsafe. You can't be too careful, I've see all kinds of crazy things happen.

If someone did get hurt, it would be bad for our hobby, both recreationally, and for those who use RC professionally.
