| I prefer a dedicated system not for aesthetic reasons, although that is a consideration, but because I like knowing that all the components were expressly designed for each other and optimized to be that way. Most dedicated systems, no matter what function they preform, usually sacrifice modularity and expandability for performance.

Wishful thinking, but certainly not the reality of the business. R/C on 2.4GHz is not a world-wide standard and it appears some countries all 10mw out while others allow 100mw output. Thus, rather than have several radio types to manufacture and inventory, it's much more logical from a manufacturers perspective to minimize the number of unique systems available.

But, that's exactly what JR is doing with the two 12X systems. I know what you're saying, though- it's certainly a greater logistical issue having multiple systems to produce, distribute and service. I'm just very glad JR is releasing a high-end dedicated 2.4GHz unit. Futaba may very well end up doing the same thing down the road. |
