e-E-Sky Honey Bee- Lama- Belt CP- E-Smart > HB King won't lift off!!!!!!!!!!

[size=small]
HB King was flying pretty good. Had a couple of crashes. Took it apart to replace main gear (stripped teeth)axis shaft and feathering shaft. I have replaced these before and had no trouble afterwards. Now I can't get it off the ground. On workbench, disconnected motor and worked the controls with Tx. Everything appears to work, all linkages hooked up and cycling with the stick in both normal and idle up. On workbench swash appears to move up and down correctly with pitch inputs. When I try to fly it, revs up to what I consider normal rotor speed but won't fly, gets light on the skids and that's about it. Normal and Idle Up = same.

After finally conquering rudder control, now this!! One thing about a HB King, you learn all the parts!!

Wimbo, To give you a very simple answer, there are really only two things that won't allow you to lift off. # Not enough power or RPM from the motor or # 2 Not enough pitch on the mainrotor blades.

Binding

Check to make sure there is no binding in the head. You can disconnect the linkages and see if everything is smooth. If thats good check the servos.

Wimbo, Check the collar on the mainshaft and make sure that it didn't SLIP UPWARD. That would affect your pitch.

Paddles - tried to get the paddles as "flat" as possible when stick and blades were at "0" pitch, is that correct?

Servos seem to function OK

Will check the collar on main shaft.

Yes the paddles should be at 0* pitch when your main blades are at 0* pitch/mid stick.....

Wimbo, In your first post paragraph you said you observed the swash plate moving up, could you also see the pitch of the mainblades increasing also???

Yes, just looked again at the blades, both seem to have positive pitch when swash is "up". All the links are engaged.

Do you have a pitch guage to check and see how much pitch you have at full throttle?? It should be 9*or 10* and -3* when the stick is down all the way..

I would strongly suspect your one way bearing In this case. If it's the old one it may gave been damaged in the crash if it's new it may need to be lubed It sounds like it;s slipping> Just went thru this with one of my helis would not lift off sounded ok but until I changed the one way no joy. Hope this helps

Bearings

The bearings in the head could be tight. I have seen them improperly installed or damaged. Everything works good on the ground with no headspeed. As soon as you spool up they get tight and it will not give the proper pitch to lift off.

We need video proof around here.

Yet another possibility toolman, we will probably find out tomorrow and maybe someone will win a prize Stay tuned!
