I have not weighed mine yet but I think it will weigh about the same. I am still planning to fly it tomorrow if the weather permits.

had a half dozen flights today in some strong winds , 7-8 mins per flight .the tail belt didn`t like =/-14 pitch pumps and finally gave up . was running =/- 12 in the end till i convert to torque tube .now done a total of 12 flights and she just gets better n better . the best bit tho is that it just does not bog at all even with my longer radius arms , leaned her off towards the end and shes starting to come alive so puttin a bigger lump in , on my mind doesn`t seem to affect it in the way some people panic about , to be honest it doesn`t snap like it used to but then again i`m running in so time will tell , have set up a drag race with some handsome chap called magicjohnson , he`s gotta webra in his rex n is going flybarless too , so that will be one to watch , soon be christmas

NICE!

I am going out to fly my maiden flight today! We will see what it can do with this high elevation.

What blades are you using Ady?

i use thunder tiger copy blades , made by bbt i think ,600mm long and the present ones weigh 131 grams , the ones which broke today where 150 g so i`ve saved some weight there too , once i`ve removed the mud

WOW!!!

I was very impressed with its power! NO bog what so ever on 13+/13- pitch. It was about 25F out here so I tuned it pretty rich. I can not imagine how it will react when it starts on lean setting.

This has to be the best mod ever.....

I was able to get in another tank today on my lunch break... I started leaning the mixture a couple of clicks... The tail kick has already started to calm down

Wouldn’t a YS61 be a better choice. The 61 is really at home at 17000rpm.

I bet the 90 is REALLY sucking the fuel at that rpm.

Can you say 4 min flights boys and girls?

I'll answer that question next week, that's exactly how I'm configuring mine.

Actually, @ 1800 HS, I'm well over 8 min. I would think that @ 1950 HS (Which is about where I'll be after break-in), I'll be getting about 7:00 to 7:30 flights...

How about 8-10 min at 2000 rpm......

I am sure the ys .61 would be ideal but if we can fit a larger motor with the same mounts.......why not??

Guys this is not for the faint. If you don't want too do this then don't but if you like to tinker and do something than just except what the manufactures give you then thats ok too. Don't knock it unless you try it. You will be impressed!

And something else to think about,

This engine is not going to be WOT all the time, like the .50's. The .91's are not going to have to work as hard to maintain the blade speed. Unlike the .50's... That's one of the benefits of running 600mm blades.

Did I miss something, or are you guys not changing the gear ratio? I'd think one would have to change to a larger pinion or smaller main gear. No?

No. The YS.91 ST4 has a rated servicable RPM range of 2000 to 17000. Divide that by the gear ratio (8.5) and you get a max rated HS of 2000. RR Member ady is taking his even further than that....

Yup George is correct on that figure as I have come up with the same figures. You will have more than enough power to turn the 600N into a rocket with that HS and +14/-14 degree pitches.

It is like having a 600E on 10S batteries!

Dealing with the OS .91 or even the YS.91 SR then you will need to change the gear ratio as they get their peak power at higher rpm's so you would need different gearing.

yo kids , now had a total of 4 flights at an engine rpm of 18000 = heaspeed of approx 2100 , about 18 in total from new?, brilliant is all i can say , the engine is still new and is running warm , not hot , the responce is outta this world on 12 degrees each way , will convert to torque tube when my local model shop gets a gearbox in too see if the tail holds better , cos i like to stick bang in all corners all the time the belt is slipping , apart from that there is no problem at all using the ys in this heli ,been out this morning in very strong cold winds and the only limit is me , i think this engine should last to , yes i know i`m at 18000 rpm but it stays cool and never over loads and with the gov now working never over revs , will put back to 14 degrees each way once i`ve put the tube in , will carry on testing soon and i`ll let you now how it progresses

TT Mount

Hi Ady,

Any other mods you need to make to use the TT 70 mount? Do you need to drill any holes in the frame? Can you tell me the width of the TT mount? Did you have to trim the fan shroud? This looks like a cool project.

thanks
allen
