the os 91 likes 8.27 gearing so that would mean getting new gearing sorted while the ys 91 st not sr like 8.45 , the rex uses 8.5 so thats close enough

Well, I've got a new Sport on the way to try this out on, I'll be using a YS61, and if that's not enough it'll go to a YS91. The heli was cheap, only $335 shipped from A-Main hobbies.

I've heard a 61 isn't really any more power than the newer highpo 50's.

Talking to people who've flown them back to back in another heli, the 61 is a pretty big difference. it has significantly more torque, and a little more HP, it makes it much harder to bog. Especially the YS61, it makes as much power as an OS70, but is more consistent.

Eury you are right about the YS .61 having more torque than the .50. I was originally going to use that motor but I got my hands on a .91 so I decided to us it.

I figure I can put a 91 if I'm not happy with the YS61, but since I've already got a couple YS61s on a shelf at home with matching Hatoris, I may as well try them. If that happens, I'll pul the 91st w/ Viperhead out of my Freya and put it in, and replace it OS 91SZ in the Freya, since I've got the gearing for both for that heli. I'm betting that I'll be more than happy with the 61 though, the only reason I ordered the 600N today was to try this out since I've already got all the parts.

Oh yeah, Jay, I still haven't made it to the Post Office, despite having that OS I said I'd give you all boxed up, do you still want it? I'm guessing no since you seem to have picked up a couple other motors already.

Nick, don't worry about it. I figured that since I saw some deals I just went ahead and bought them. You see how I done mine so you should have no issues in getting yours done. If you have any questions, just ask and I will get u set up.

Digging through my parts boxes, I've come up with a mount that I think is from an XCell Pro 2 (IIRC, I just dumped a bunch of misc things in there) that will work well. It's about 1mm too wide, but that's easy to take care of,and since it is a solid 1 piece mount it should serve to add some strength to the frame.

Yup and thats why I used a solid piece Vigor engine mount. It will spread your frames just a wee bit but it is not bad at all. If you look at the bottom, all you have to do is screw into the mount and the 2mm bottom frame and it will add that stability you need.

The mount I'm going to use has enough meat that I think it can be taken down so it doesn't spread the frames, We'll see how it works, I'll report back when I get it done, the heli should be here on Monday.

Isnt 2100 rpm on the head putting the 91 well outside of its max rpm?? I thought there max peak was somewhere around 15400. With 8.5 gearing and a 2100rpm head that would put the motor somewhere around 17000.

Not on the YS 91ST. That's why I chose this motor. Max servicable RPMs is around 17000

Hmmmmm, and I know a raptor 90 torque tube will work. Anyone going to stretch it for 690 blades??

What are you guys weighing in at with the 91??
