What pitch and HS did you run on it? How long did the fuel last?

Man I cant wait until this weather clears up a bit......Maybe tomorrow???

Right now I have the pitch set at +/- 13. Same as it was for the YS 50 that was in it. I'm quite sure that I will increase that after the new 91 gets run-in.

As for the HS, I only tok it up to 1850 for the first run. I don't think it would have made 2000 because it's too rich.

It was really quite amaazing how fast it jumped form 1650 to 1850. I had to do that a couple of times just because it was so incredibly cool.

The only concern that I have right now is the long term. I'm going to have to keep a close eye on the one-way, the clutch, and the tail belt once I start throwing it around.

And I really didn't pay attention to the flight time. I was more concerned about how the bird was flying, and the sound of the engine. If I had to guess I'd say about 7 or 8 min of mild hovering and piros (with a couple of pitch pumps thrown in for good measure).

The older I get, the shorter my attention....... Oh look. A shiny penny..

I'm at 172' above sea level. Is it worth it? My first impression is HELL YES!!!!!!!

For the little amount of work that had to go into it, and what you get out of it, I'm thinking about converting my other 600N over as well.

Nice! I am in Colorado so the elevation was my main problem with the .50 so that was why I needed to go up in power.

You need to remember that NO custom parts need to made for this. You only need to modify the existing parts that Align, and YS have.

Yup...mine was just a little different as I used a JR Vigor engine block but everything else is original and just modified to work also.

Very nice work. Watch out for mechanical failures since the heli isn't designed for that kind of power. Particularly the clutch stackup and the plastic gears.

Only CHANGE you'll get is what's left in your pocket.

It is a good thing that Aligns parts are not that expensive...

I am no Alan S. or Youngblood so I think I should be ok with my mild 3D stuff. I may have to look into Luke's sprag one-way here soon with this type of torque. I looked but he is out until Jan. It will be interesting to see how things will hold up as I am using the belt version. Time will tell.

I like your Cummins Rig as I have the same deal. I tow some heavy stuff at times and the 5.9 just laughs at it and says "is this all you got!"

The Luke bearing should easily handle that motor just like our Cummins can handle more than the truck itself

UPGRADE TO THE METAL GRIPS FOR YOUR SAFETY

You guys are nuts! Have you ever seen a plastic grip let go? I have, and let me tell you, I would not go anywhere near those machines until you have metal grips on them. It is violent and immediate, the heli will do one of two things, it will ball up and hit the ground, or explode and shed parts over a wide area. I have been 50 feet away from a heli that let go, and I was nearly stabbed by a piece of blade that pierced itself into the fence right next to me. I have seen them do both. Once you have seen it with your own eyes you have a whole other level of appreciation for how dangerous these machines can be.

On my 600N, with a Hyper 50, +/-14 degrees and 2200 head speed, it didn't take but two dozen flights before the grips were so loose they would let the blades flap up and down so much the blades would go out of track with cyclic inputs. I replaced mine with metal when they got that bad. But, if I had it to do over again I would do it from the start, because I later saw a friend's fail that wasn't as far gone as mine were. It will let go when you build up some speed and throw in a snappy cyclic maneuver, like a hard recovery out of a tail slide or something. If the bearings, gears, belt, clutch, etc etc fail its never good, but its not as bad as a grip failing. For your safety as well as everyone around you, please put the metal grips on.

flippin and dippin, flying tail to the ground, I fly my heli's like a rabid greyhound!!!

Didn't you lock-tight your spindle shaft? Cleaning the bolts with alcohol also ensures a good bond.

Also my thoughts are: with a .90 engine doesn't mean a higher RPM, but only more torque and payload. Pitch pumps with a .50 or .90 at the same RPM is more powerful only in the way of not loosing [as much] RPM.

Don't get me wrong: I would love to do this project!

This is exactly what I was needing from this setup. You are running the same RPM but the torque is key to keeping the bird from loosing so much power. Anyone who has flown in High elevation will tell you that you sacrifice more power with thinner air for lift and valuable engine rpm recovery.

I am insanely interested in stuffing a big block into mine now. How do you think the shaft driven tail on a 600n pro would handle the power? Better to convert it to belt, or does someone make better delrin gears or something like what is used on MA? Looks awesome though!!! I can only imagine. I took one of my old xcell pro II's a while back and lightened it up, changed the gearing, and ran 680mm main blades and used an OS .91 sz-h and it was unbelievable. I can only imagine what this bird would fly like with a big block. What do you guys think about using a os szh? I noticed most of the big block conversions you guys are doing are with ys motors. Reason? Thanks

well i shall be flying mine again tomorrow and according to the weather men its gonna be windy , with the little extra weight it should be no problem i hope , as for the metal grips the jury is still out for me
