Thank you for your recent e-mail.

You can use part number:

FUTM0414 S3114 SERVO MICRO HT ROHS for $24.99
----------------------------------------------------------
the above message came from the Futaba guy. I checked the servo out on their sight and it's just an analog servo, street price on Tower Hobbies aroun $17.

Do you guys have any suggestions for servos (aileron, elevator, pitch) and tail with a GY401 gyro?

Thanks.

Keep the blue side up!

My son wants to use his 9303 radio to fly his blade 400. I have everything working but the remote gyro gain. Most of my experience is with large gas planes and the helicopters hase been a fun challenge. I think that the gyro gain signal on the 9303 is on channel 7 and on the stock blade 400 it is looking for the gyro gain on channel 5. I have tried to program a mix but have been unsucessful in finding a way to make the rudder d/r switch(gyro gain) the master and the gear function(channel 5) work together. Has anyone else done this sucessfully????

Yes channel 7 is for gyro on x9303.

You need to adjust travel for gyro on a 6 channel reciever.

I watched this video

I hope this helps!

Another question regrading 9303 and blade 400. When setting up swash mix I find that I must use lower values for aileron and elevator or the ball links will hit the bottom of the blade grips. I have reduced aileron and elevator to 50% to keep things from hitting and binding. Has anyone else experienced this. The heli has been crashed a couple of times but still flies good. Could I have put something back together wrong?

So what the collective thoughts

is this "JRPF300H Performance Mini Heli ServoSet" worth the money? will the 285 center better than stock (the both have the same toque specs)? If they really dont make that big of a difference Then I might just upgrade the tail servo.

Tail Servo

I agree on that... When I got the Blade 400, the LHS spun it up and everything worked fine. A day later, I tried to spin it up and it kept on going around in circles before I could even get off the ground. Dumb servo was toast after one flight. Replaced it with a Spectrum servo of some sort.

No problems since.

Well I got the 3400g and the hs65 cant wait to install them. Now I should be able to do a tail slide with out having to fly the tail on the way down.

Can the 3400g actuall handle the digital mode on the stock gyro. I would think that it could but just wanted to get confirmation so I dont burn up anything.

Thanks,

Flight times...

Well I finally got the times in with the 3 batteries i have used.
1. The stock battery gives about 8-10 minutes of normal flight.
2. The thunder power 2200mah v2 gives about 4-6 minutes of normal flight time, but the power is vastly increased.
3. The thunder power 2100mah prolite gives a staggering 10-15 minutes of flight time,a slight gain in power barely noticeable.
Now all flights were made twice, the first go was just hovering in place to see how long each battery lasted. The second flight consisted of circuits and fast forward flight. Out of all three batteries I'd say that the 2100mah prolite was the best all around.
The next phase in the testing will go into flight times with some mild 3d, ( inverted hovering, tic tocs ) to see how much of a drain I get. I plan on getting a measuring device to see the drain and how much i pull out and how much i put in. I will post all results.

If god wanted us to fly he would have given us rotors.

Another question.

Im using the t-rex cf tail blades and have noticed a great deal ov vibration since I put them on. To get them to fit you have to sand the ends down till there almost flush with the blade. I noticed that they fit in tight one way but are a little loose another. Anyone have the same problem? Im planning on putting the stock blades back on to see if there is a change.

Just been on the HH site looking for some specs and saw adds for upgrade head and tail parts, no images and shows out of stock. Evidently the parts are from Microheli?

Carnage -

I had the same experience. I "touched" a peeble in the driveway whle landing - caused a crack in one blade. LHS did not have any E-Flite tail blades so I bought the Align CF blades. Had to sand them a little on both sides to get to fit tail grips.

Once airborne, I saw a very high frequency vibration in the tail boom support rods and vertical fin. Shut heli down and waited for E-flite tail blades - put them on and problem gone!

I think the vibration was due to uneven sanding on the two blades to make them fit. Any small difference in the blade grip angles while sanding will cause the problem since tail is doing approx 12000-15000 rpm (or more based on your headspeed).

I'm keeping the 400 stock, but you could easily put a TRex 450 tail blade holder (plastic one or metal) on it if you need/want to. Both tail shafts are 3mm - Here's the part in plastic - http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=335108
and metal - http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=331257

I put the plastic T-rex 450 tail blade holder and now overall the tail is about a 1/2 bigger in diameter because the 450 tail blade grips are farther apart that the blade seems to have a little better tail authority Im also using the 450 carbon tail blades.
I ordered a set of custom tail fins for the T-rex 450 that are longer than the stock ones and that gives me plenty or clearance off the dirt. I called and ordered mine in bare aluminum and I polished them myself I only had to make the holes a little oval to fit the blade 400.
This is where I got them

Nice, I also discovered that rex blade fins will fit and slapped on a pair. I'm waiting for my se v2 aluminum tail and then I think it'll be good times. I didn't realize that the tail has a larger rotor diameter though. Good to know. Thanks. One thing that definately gave me a sharper (feeling) tail was moving the servo to the boom and putting a SPMDSP75 (spektrum 19oz .11sec digi servo) with rex aluminum mount. Wheeeeee, whole different animal. It does require a fabricated push pull link. To keep mine simple I just epoxy'd some spare ball link ends on a piece of carbon rod so there's no adjustability to it but if required you can move the servo mount foreward and aft that last 1/32 or so.

While we're on the tip forum, once you relocate the servo you can trim the old mount under the boom and relocate your gyro in a much safer place.

On a side note that's not very important you have the same chairs as me. Are you lucky enough to have a wife that will let you work on your heli on the kitchen table too. I should probably mention that this one hasn't b!@#$ed once about scattered heli parts when it's at a post crash but pre parts order state at our place. God I love her. Thanks Mel!!

Buildem,

Do you have the weight difference of the fins?
I'd really like to know if they are much heavier than the plastic fins.

Sorry, but I have to be the weight nazi here at 8,000FASL.
