There's always plenty of free entertainment and info on RR...
And this has to be the longes thread that has remained somewhat civilized and well spoken on both sides....well up until the last page

LOL It's like two blown out prize fighters with nothing left throwing out blurry punches at each other and the damn referee won't put a stop to it cause he's getting a kick out of it.

Crazy as it sounds it is entertaining. These are certainly lucid, intelligent and literate arguments here. The real key is to try to stay away from taking things too personal and then throwing personal insults. And yes I find myself guilty as charged sometimes. I got to keep myself in check.

Although these debates rarely result in anyone changing their opinion, they do certainly bring awareness to the topic. Participants drop into and out of the fray. Spectators drop in and align themselves on one side or the other and follow the action. Almost 2700 views on this tread at this point.

And the debate can play out like a chess match - a press against one front, a counter to that press, a maneuver in another direction, a play to counter that maneuver, knights fall, pawns get sacrificed, rooks get captured. Sometimes a gap opens up and the match is over. But sometimes, the match goes on until there is nothing left but the kings

Hey! But what the heck makes you think this is free! You owe us buddy and one day we're gonna collect!!!!

Enough of this off topic mooshy cr@p. Your first task is to dig up that ceiling fan video. We gotta see that one!!!

Hope it was as good for you as it was for me

As I stated above - well said. I couldn`t agree more. I too am "guilty as charged".

Cheers. And yes, it was good for me too!! (LOL).

More than a few posts on here fear legislation that would prevent them from flying helis in their own yards. Quite rightly so - that would be a dire infringement upon personal liberty and the American way (the UK way is not really worth bothering about - why we get up in the morning I don't know). However, I think that any proposed legislation would in fact look at controlling the flying over and around another person's yard or property and a public highway.

If my neighbour wants to fly IN HIS OWN YARD & THE AIRSPACE ABOVE HIS YARD AND THAT YARD ONLY, then there is no argument from me - if however, he Deliberately makes the heli trespass on my property without my permission then that's another matter entirely. If the heli malfunctioned then crashed into my property then that would have been an acceptable risk (both me and my family and pets would be watching from a safe distance anyhow) because it wasn't deliberately flying on my property in the first place.

If someone wishes to fly a nitro inside their own house - then that's fine by me, but don't expect me to be in the same room!

To reiterate, I would oppose any legislation preventing people from enjoying the hobby within the boundaries of their own property. Common sense would have to apply with anyone "park flying" i.e. is the place crowded with bystanders, onlookers, pets etc. If the place was deserted, with nothing but the ground to hit then that's fine. Obviously this would generate a grey are of biblical proportions in trying to decide how big such a deserted are should be

At least that was in a gym rented out for some flying - shame he dumb thumbed it into the wall

EDIT - the gym, or should I say that particular room of the building, was hardly full of people, but yes, agreed! some of them may not have been there for the flying.

This is reply for ZXX Flyer. I was the guy flying the T-rex in the gym. Before you call someone a dumbass I would suggest you get your facts straight. I was flying at a MAAC sanctioned event and the plane guys were doing the samethings I did. There was a flight line for the pilots and no one around me when I did this. The guys above were way out of harms way in behind a barrier. I am sure you done a few risky things in your life flying helis! You are a funny guy!

why all the JK bashing?? Give the guy some credit! a) he's a superb pilot... Take it from Align... yea, you know, the company that manufactured that helicopter.... ask them WHO designed the heli... ohh.. wait... JASON KRAUSE. Jason is demonstrating the skills of his helicopter. Are you saying that by flying in competitions he is setting an example that new pilots should go out and try to fly inverted/3d before they are ready to do so??? NO! Take note of how many people are outside watching at the time of his flight. No one. Take note of how many people are driving there cars... I think I saw one SUV drive by... And even then, the chances of injury in a vehicle due to an RC heli are much lower than say... ohh, a crowd of 50-100 people standing there watching the guy fly bats@#$@it crazy less than a hundred feet away from them... come on.... the guy designed the heli... he's paid to fly.... honestly, you don't think he didn't sit down for even just a moment to calculate the risks?? and more importantly, how to reduce the chance of injuries to bystanders??

what's the difference between an AMA sanctioned event and an event performed by a PROFESSIONAL RC HELI PILOT that was sanctioned by his neighbors??

I could understand the argument if it were some amateur flying the heli and/or someone who didn't take proper precautions... but he had spotters, he notified the neighbors, and relative to his skill, JK was flying very basic maneuvers...

AMA sanctioned or not, there are ALWAYS risks. Given the concentrated number of people at AMA events as opposed to neighbors inside their homes, the risk of actually injuring someone is HIGHER at AMA events...

and by the way, this is an electric TRex500, not a nitro-powered 90 sized ship.

you really don't give him any credit, do you.... I mean, the guy is employed by Align to DESIGN THEIR HELICOPTERS.... nah, he can't be that smart... in fact, he must be downright stupid... *waayyy sarcastic tone**

Intelligence has absolutely nothing to do with it, nobody here that I recall has said he is stupid, just that what he did was unsafe. The fact that he is a "pro" means very little, the space shuttle is operated by "pro's" who design their equipment as well and it still crashed and killed all due to an UNFORSEEN problem...good thing they don't fly that in a neighborhood and claim it is safe because it is done by "pro's"...And no, I don't expect that you will get the point.

My Posts This: Topic Forum I personally think this is one of the coolest videos I have ever seen (of a r/c heli).

Please understand that Jason is a professional. The video was made to be entertaining, but for anyone who knows him personally he takes safety very, very seriously. The vehicles in the street were his own and friends. Those passing by were neighbors, who are always aware of him flying and often request it. The camera man was set up in a very safe and isolated location. There were and always are spotters, if you will notice the flight had to be stopped becuase a neighbor was walking down the street 4 houses down! Although there was no disclaimer, many precautions were taken pre-flight.
