Ok Guys,

I am in the process of re-assembling back the HBK2 after the tail drive belt replacement. I did reverse the waser/race setup on the tensioner (thanks for the tip) upon re-assembly. However, I got to intsalling the drive motor back and now I am curious about how much tension do you place against the pinion and the gear? Too much robs the battery (probably will tear up the gear too), too little gives you slop. What have you all gone with? Also am curious about tail rotor setup. I have watched the subzero guy's vids about having the 2 degree offset at neutral stick, does that give enough blade deflection for good tail control? The reason I'm asking is mine (before I tore it down), didn't seem like it had even pitch differetial between the two sides (meaning you had more picth in one direction of travel than the other). Is there a right way and a wrong way here? Is it possible to reverse the blade couplers and have issues? I saw you guys talking about the 43t gear upgrade (of which I can't locate in stock on the online stores), what other alternatives are out there? Bigger tail baldes? I assume T-Rex ones? Wouldn't you hit the main blade with a bigger tail blade? Wouldn't it turn slower? Or is the amount of air "bite" going to offset this loss of tail rotor speed?

I have read that the stock motor is crap and should be tossed. What brushless setup would you guys recommned? I'm not going to the 3D nationals or anything, I just would like to get something to play around with that won't die on me after I get the thing setup and dialed in. I'm still working on that; the belt cratered before she's even been airborne.

Sorry for all of the questions, I really don't have a source here locally. So all of my knowledge base comes from this forum, as the local store only caters to the T-Rex and the E-flight stuff.

Many thanks,

As for the Mtr I would use a JGF400DH and a Dynam 30A ESC.

for the gear mesh use a thin sheet of paper between the pinion and main gear and then press them tight....this usualy works well

the tail set up is designed to have more throw one way then the other thats just the way it is.....don't worry about having slightly less travel for left rudder....torque from the motor helps make up for that.....just get the servo positioned so the heli hovers without drifting in rate mode and you will be good(slide servo for/aft on the boom with 0 trim until the heli hovers solid)

as for Brushless set ups...there are many...but what myself and many are using is cheap, works great and is powerful with long runtimes......HDX300 from helidirect.com...its only 20.00....you will need a bl esc with that also

the extreme tail pulley is only available at one site that I know of....but if you are new I wouldn't even worry....the stock tail works just fine
