Well, after receiving my Honeybee FP early this week I was able to run a few battery packs thru it this p.m.. After scooting and hopping around the floor I eventually had the nerve to get it out of ground effect and into a hover, albeit a very short hover. It's amazing how differently the heli acts when out of ground effect: a little easier to control even though I was still wandering all over. I think that I have my Gain and Proportional settings on the gyro right where they should be but can't be sure until I can get it to hover a little longer. My understanding is that you really shouldn't trim the heli out when in ground effect, just moving along the floor. True? Will keep you posted on my progress. Cheers.

Ahhh...finally someone else with the wisdom or foresight to start with an FP. Keep the hovers short, and fly the nose! Always think of nose right, nose left, not tail left or right.

Get some BladeCP skids for when those break. They fit right in, and are a lot tougher.

If you can afford a barebone kit, get one to strip for parts. If not, get a couple outer paddle control frames and rotor heads.

Your journey of a million miles begins with one step. You just put your shoes on.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're NOT out to get you...

Glad to hear your off the ground well sort of. I have not the patience so I never seen the FP helis. But don't let that ground effect thing fool you. maybe the FP's throw a little more wind vs headspeed But I notice no ground effect on my machines. What I want to get across to you is crashes dont hurt anything 6" off the ground and you have to land in ground effect so learn to hover there. Good luck I hope you tire of the FP soon and get a king.

Thanks for the advice guys. I appear to have a case of dumb thumbs and thought that an FP heli would be a better starter than a ccpm machine but everyone has different opinions. I'm working my "thumb" problem out on a simulator so hopefully improvement will come slow but sure. Already have spare blades and tail rotor just in case. On the Training gear right now which has saved me a couple of times. This Honeybee is tough. I think the 6" hovering above ground practice is a good idea. Have done this with some success so I'll keep at it. Only problem I'm having.......this heli flying stuff is addictive! Where's my wallet!

It it very challenging and addictive, you will survive and you will improve, but you do in fact now have O.C.H.D, whats that you ask ???Obsessive Compulsive Heli Disorder. I am very sorry to have to be the one to tell you but you have it, there is no cure yet, even if there was a cure, I wouldn't take it !!
