e-Minicopter Joker > What set-up for a minijoker 12S

Hi all,
I'd like to set up my minijoker as a 12S ship utilizing TP/FP 6S 5000mah batteries since that's what I already own. My questions are;

-Is this going to be to heavy? I'm mainly into doing forward flight, circuits, some inverted, not much more fancy flying then that.

-What would be a good motor/esc combination?

- Pinion for around 1700-2000 headspead?

-What is the largest mainblade I could/should fly with this set-up without stretching the boom?

Thanks for any opinions.

Stock boom is for 600mm with an optional boom/belt to run 620mm blades. With a joker2 boom and custom belt you can run any length blades. I'm running 710mm blades on two stretched Mini Jokers for AP.

Most 12s setups run a lower mah pack because they are running higher voltage.

It should be fine with your battery's, a little on the heavy side but still within reason for 600-620 blades. Stretch it and it will be crazy!!

I run this setup on a maxi joker 2 and it works great.

I also have it on a joker 2 running 710s and it works great as well.

I would recommend the actro 24-5 or 32-4 ( I prefer the 24-5) along with a jazz 55 esc

Hope that helps

Uhm, I think Tabb might have got confused. Don't use the Jazz 55 for 12s, it won't work. You need a powerjazz. I run 12s on my maxi.

Rhett... I can't fly, luckily the HC Profi Can!

tabbytab,
Why to you prefer the 24-5 over the 32-4? Just trying to decide which way I should go and looking for some feedback. Thanks.

24-5 is a bit more efficient and runs a touch cooler compared to the 32-4. It doesnt make quite the power the 32-4 does but pretty darn close. Also the 24-5 is lighter.

Rhett,
Why not a Jazz 55? It can handle up to 32s...

Model: Jazz 55-10-32
# Cells: 10-32
BEC: No
Max. Constant Current: 55 A
Surge: 70A

The jazz 55 can handle 32 nickel-based cells, which works out to roughly 10s lipo. It might be able to swing 11s, but definitely not 12.

You could also use the CastleCreations 85 HV which accept 12S.

With the weight of the batteries, it WILL feel heavy. you will probably have to hang the pack far away in the nose too.

I'm running 10S 3700 Flightpower and it is already not the lightest machine for 3D... but it does fly really nice.

Well I'm running 12S with 2 FP 6S 5000mHa batteries. She is very heavy but the balance for and aft is good. I'm not doing 3D so I've not flipped it over. I up'd the pinion to 16T and I've tacked my HS at just under 1800. Climbs nice. I bit the bullet and ordered a couple of FP 6S 3700 mHa batteries and I think that will get me close to the sweet spot weight wise.

I went with the Jazz power ESC. I have a CC 85 HV and I can't say I've had any problem with CC ESC's but I've read enough from others that I'm concerned.
