I got an Acrostar, which = Quick 60. Nice heli, like its on rails, but not the lightest or most agile.

Acrostar?

I believe the Acrostar is a TSK Product!

And TSK is no longer manufactured!

Jeff,

The Quick 60 and AcroStar are near-twin brothers. A bit of history...

When Junichi's treachery was discovered and the old man took back control of TSK, he found that Junichi had bled the firm nearly white. The firm needed some capital infusion, quickly. Our old buddy Mr. Quick was right there with cash in hand; and so the Quick 60 was developed alongside the AcroStar.

My info gets a bit blurry here, as my source was not too clear on which came first; but my money is on the AcroStar being a TSK design, copied by Quick. That is just my opinion.

FWIW, I think the MyStar 60 is a much better ship. The AcroStar was an attempt to cash in on the CCPM craze. My buddy has one, and it is heavier and not as smooth as the MyStar.

I really miss my TSKs. While I do love my X-Cell, the MyStar 60 flies just as good, with less complexity. And it needed NO "upgrades".

I often wonder what would have happened had some other US vendor been chosen as the main US distributor...

Hi Steve:

You're absolutely correct. I still have my TSK 30 and it flies great. But, with the Raptor 60, 2 Raptor 50's and a Raptor 30 in the stable, the TSK doesn't get much air time anymore. Of course I won't sell her, since it was my first machine.

Working on my new Scale Project too. Hopefully, will be able to get out and fly this summer.

Take Care............!

Jeff,

One final point; remember all the flak on the TSK List about that certain vendor? Well, that same vendor is the main man for Quick machines (here in the US).

He managed to kill TSK in this country almost single-handedly. I wonder how long it will take him to do the same with Quick; which, IMO isn't even in the same league as TSK.

Get a Freya. I almost did a few months back, before getting a wild hair to try a full-blown scaler. Big mistake; I'm just not ready to invest the time and effort needed to do it right. The fact that the kit I bought had freakin' HORRIBLE glass work didn't help.

Got a Quick 60

I built one a couple of months ago, and have about 6-7 flights on it now... Just had my first crash in it today (someone stepped on my Channel!!! ) ...oh well. It flies (flew) pretty good, and seems to be fairly tight in control. I'm just really impressed with how stable it is... Even in heavy wind, its EASY to hover and land. Bout the only thing I wince at more are the parts cost -- This crash was a $270 one. It would be nice if more places had the parts.

I've got a Raptor 30 pushed to a 50, and the Quick 60.

Repair Parts

All of the parts are available thru Hobbies & Helis who is the seller / importer(?) of the quick line. -- http://www.quickheli.com

Everyone that I have spoken with at HHI has been very helpful and professional. Overall I've been very pleased with everything that I've ordered from them. The instructions are pretty good, and whenever I've had a question, they've always given me answers very promptly.

I think Irwin can rub some people the wrong way sometimes -- he seems to be a "New Yorker" type who is very quick and short in conversation, and some people don't like that. But I got the feeling that he's genuinely interested in making sure things work right, and business is taken care of.

Anyone else had problems with them?

I too have had great luck with HHI and believe that the quality and price of their Quick helicopters are second to none.

I learned to fly with a Quick .30 Trainer and am just about ready to make the upgrade to the newer Quick .50.

As far as Irwin goes, I have talked with the man countless times and I can honestly say that he is OK in my book. He is a business man through and through but is also very passionate about his products and will defend them at a moments notice.

As Ryan stated, Irwin definitely has the New Yorker personality and I could see how he might offend the sensitive type who does not know him. As far as I'm concerned, he is extremely fare to deal with and as long as you don't try to BS your way through a service issue, he will bend over backwards to make you a satisfied customer.

A big thumbs up for Quick and HHI!

side note also...

The Quick 60 that I've got was my first heli... I hadn't even flown one before* (I have but about 15 yrs ago when they were fixed pitch machines, and at best you could hover for about 20 seconds at time, and were too unstable to really "fly" - the machines of today are totally different in feel and to fly than what I played with briefly years ago.).

I originally spoke with Irwin, told him my budget, and asked him to set me up with a "good quality setup". He did just that - perfectly, and didn't take advantage of me what-so-ever! In fact he came in under my budget and with a Cadillac setup (okay Lexus -- since this stuff is made in Japan). The Quick was the first heli I've ever assembled, and it wasn't really that big a deal to build... however I the experienced help & advice that I received from a friend here in Denver probably saved me a boatload of time and certain extra cost from mistakes and just pure inexperience & ill-knowledge ! If one is new to this field -- I would say its very necessary to have someone help you. If nothing else -- it just make it a hell of a lot more fun!

I guess I'm lucky.. I have had good service from their business... for both heli's and my giant scale Staudacher. When I called them to say that the wing tube of my Staudacher was missing in action, they sent one next day mail to me free of charge, and have stood by their products for me well. I like the idea of a fully upgraded heli out of the box

My two cents

I've got to say that I agree with the guys above. I have two quick 60 Pro's, two xcells and an erog and IMHO the Quicks take the cake. Also I have had nothing but good experiences form HHI especially Irwin and ET.

I don't know alot, but I know what works for me!......................Memiors of a Schleprock.

i have a quick 30 learner with an os 32, i think it could use more power like the 46, but just out learning it works fine, i will admit it does seem to be very smooth and responsive and running a diesel head on it for something different

Quick 50 OS 50 what pipe????

I believe I am about to purchase a Quick 50 Pro. But what engine is going to really crank out the power I have considered an OS 50 but don't know what exhause to use or even if there is a more powerful engine I should consider. If some one with a Quick 50 could help me to avoid misteaks and select the best combo I would appreciate all the help I can get Thanks Mike Lewis in Northeastern AZ.

Quick 50 Engine

Mike:

The OS 50 is a monster engine and will fly the heck out of the Quick 50. I would not worry about a pipe, but get an ovesized muffler on it as some of the stock mufflers are a bib too restrictive. I have a Webra 50 in mine with a Hatori 60 sized muffler and I have TONS of power.

The OS is also a pretty well behaved engine, so you will love it!

Jim!
