e-MS Composit Hornet > How Best to Mount Hacker in Hornet Motor Mount?

Hello,

Just got my Hacker B20-22S today! I did not expect the Hacker mounting holes to match exactly with the Hornet main body motor mount holes. A little filing to the Hornet mounting holes is not a hard thing! But the Hacker has to be forced into position, as the black, raised circle at the base of the motor shaft does not fit between the Hornet main body mounting flanges. When the motor is forced into position it deflects the plastic outwards a little. Maybe this is no big deal? Once the motor mount screws are tightened it looks like the plastic flanges with the holes will pull down onto the motor and be fine. Grinding the plastic flanges so the motor will slide in place easily seems dangerous, as there is not much thickness in that area? Just wondering what some of you Hornet flyers have done!?

Any input will be appreciated. Thanks,

Michael

When I opened the Hornet CP box I thought someone forgot to put all the parts in it! This is my first micro!

I used my trusty dremel and cutoffwheel to trim that flange on the motor. Once you find the right dubro bolts, the motor mounts fine.

I used my dremel too but I was worried about getting shavings into the motor so I rounded out the hornet body to fit the hacker.

I packed cotton into the motor output bearing recess and used a hand file on the motor boss to create some flats. After I remove enough material, I cleaned the motor and removed the cotton packing.

Hey, Thanks for the good ideas! Sounds like a little filing on the motor is not a big deal and won't hurt anything as long as bearing is protected. HAS ANYONE JUST FORCED THE MOTOR INTO THE MOUNTS, BOLTED IT IN PLACE AND LEFT IT THAT WAY WITHOUT PROBLEMS?

Thanks,

Michael
