After messing with gyro sense on my DX7 looks like im gona switch to gear chan also.

only good thing with gyro sense is auto gain settings on different flight modes, but if you set up your gyro right there is no need for that. You can have 2 HH settings on gear with clever PMixes

Agreed.

I only have one gain in HH now. I set it up for idle-up, seeings how thats all I fly in except to take off and land. Works fine!

pitch range on mini zoom pro v2

i am just setting up my mini zoom pro v2. and with an initial check on the pitch range it is +12 degrees full high stick and +2 degrees half stick and -7 degrees full low stick. is this normal for these helis? this is with my pitch and throttle curves linear.
any ideas?

I don't know about the mini zoom pro.

But by (linear) you mean you have a mechanical +/-12 degrees, and you backed off the negative to -7 degrees in your tx then your all set.

If you have a full mechanical pitch range of (+12 to -7) then it's not linear. Adjust your links until you have it 12deg in both directions.

Wow, that's a slick Heli you got there!

I can't believe it that the swash plate on the Hurricane 200 comes apart so easily also, it's the same for the big brother Hurricane 550. Mine came apart so easily when I had my first crash on it, they must be using some really really cheap glue and didn't put enough of it. I fixed it using some JB Weld for added security and was gonna go with CA, but didn't trust it so much compared to JB Weld.

Happy New Years All!!! ^^

Thanks for the nice comments!

Well, it doesn't look like that anymore thanks to those

CHEAP ASS WOOD BLADES !!!

I highly do not recommend the woodies. Today, second flight on the new woodies they decided they didn't want to fly anymore and departed the heli. Both blades ripped out right at the grip holes. The blades shot out both directions then it got real quiet! The heli took a nose dive from about 25' up. landed right on the nose.

Damage:

- P.O.S wood blades
- main shaft. spindle, and flybar
- tailboom and supports
- 2 day old painted canopy
- landing gear

Will post pics later.

And to boot, I smashed in my 600N pro today, I was hot-dogging and full boar'ed it into the ground on its skids. ALOT of damage on that one. Cracked the frames, motor, bent the new Align pipe, blades, boom, skids, stiffener, tray, head, tail.

Way to start off the new year!

Ouch! Did you dip the ends of the blades that attach to the bladeholders in CA glue before flying with them? I read in one of these threads to do that. I am not going to chance it though, as this is the second time I've heard of this happening and I don't need this ---- I fly badly enough on my own even with the blades on!!!

This was the info I was looking for on the wood blades. after having a wood blade depart in flight (indoors with people around) I did not want to fly them anymore. Only problem is, they are lighter and stiffer than the plastic. With the plastic blades, you do not get more stability, and lose roll rate. I heard something about soaking the roots in ZAP or some CA. But could not find the particulars on how folks are doing it. anyone have info, or a link?

S76Mech, I am sorry to hear that it happened to you. But glad it is not just me.

Rick,

OMG NO WAY, that really really sucks! I'm sorry for the bad news, not just 1 heli but 2!!! The crash damage is a big one on the Trex600N I hope all will go well for you after every things all repaired. That Gaui was so pretty looking and a wonderful paint job!

Woodies have been good for me so I don't go spending so much money on head repairs, it just scares me seeing them blades fly out like you where describing! I think I'll go and spend my money on new Carbon blades for my Hurricane 550 and Trex450SE because I'm impressed with the Carbon blades performance on my Raptor Titan, so much more pop and crisp cyclics. Carbon blades here I come!

Last crash on Trex450SE took out all three servos [1 died ], feather spindle, main shaft, thrust bearings, 325 pro woodies, and surprisingly flybar and canopy wasn't damaged

Too bad I can't show you the video of Ray Hostetler's method of rooting the wood blades with CA, he does a great job of preparing wood blades.

Do that make them Hurricane 200 blades in carbon fiber form, probably not huh? I really want to get a Hurricane 200 so bad for indoor flying ^^ But my eyes are on the Beam 450 E4

JeepCJ,

To CA my wooden blades, I just poured about 1/2 inch of CA into a small plastic cup, and then dipped the root of the blades in for about 10 seconds, and then let them dry.

I have also heard that in addition to this, some people have glued the blade washers that you need for the wood blades anyway right to the blade root. I think that I'll do that as well before flying again.

I have never heard of CF blades for a heli as small as the 200.

Good luck.

Do you remove any of the covering, and are you using thin CA so it wicks into the wood better, or just regular CA?

thanks

pitch range

anyone else have any input on this.
i am getting +11 degrees at full high stick and - 8.5 degrees full low stick. is this o.k. ??
my swash mix on the DX7 is at 64% across the board. and i haven't moved my ttl or pit curves yet the are linear.
any ideas???

Sorry, I can't help on the pitch range issue. In terms of the wooden blades, I used thin CA and just put it over the plastic (although there was some wood exposed at the root of the blades that the CA soaked in to). I am no expert at this, so I am kind of winging it, but it works so far. I have also now glued the blade washers directly to the root with CA as well.

Joining the EP 200 chat...

I made a deal for a slightly used Gaui EP 200 and will be checking back here for related information. I plan on installing a Spektrum 6100 Rx and converting my batteries from JST to mini-dean connectors. Thanks for suggestions to check the wood blade mounts.

Hey fellas!

I was looking at the crash damage on both ships lastnite and today. Holy Cow!

The 600N is up to $400, and that's going the cheapy route with the G-10 frames instead of the C/F's. The C/F frame cracked in 8 places! Man, if it weren't for the Freaking Awesome flight I was throwing down before it went in, I would be more upset.

As for the Hurricane, I understand that guys are C/A'ing the roots, but like chopperben1 said, I don't want to take the chance of flying indoors and seeing this happen again. The blades came off so quickly at that headspeed that they looked like a white blur. No-way I am flying these blades again. I ordered some replacement parts this morning, going with the lightweight (9G) canopy, stock landing gear, and some C/F (SAB clone) main blades. Hopefully this will do it!

Here's a link to the blades I bought....

John, I pm'd you back with regards to your pitch issues!

Rick, they list them under EP100 parts upgrades, are they the same length as the Hurricane 200 blades?

I think I have changed my mind on glueing the spacers to the blades.
I can not find the spacers sold seperately. If you trash the blades and need new washers, it looks like you need to buy the grip set.
Has anyone seen them seperate?
