e-E-Sky Honey Bee- Lama- Belt CP- E-Smart > HBK2 Setup?

Ok, I want to use JR 8103 Transmitter for HBK2. I noticed that Jr radio uses positive shift rx and HBK2 RTF version uses negative shift rx. Which rx best fits for JR radio?
I'm thinking I will just buy a barebone kit to build HBK2.

How about the brushless motor and ESC? The ones jaghobbies sells for $40 will work well? (The brushless motor 3100 and Speed controller combination)

How about servos? The esky servos work pretty well? Do you guys use any other servos?

For the gyro, I want to use either Logi 2100 or futaba401(or240).

Also, which lipo battery charger/balancer are good? I want to buy one so I can use it for my future T-rex also. Which battery do you guys use for HBK2?

Hmm, so many questions. Maybe I will just have to buy the RTF one

Well even though you said trex i will reply.

I cant comment on radio I just bought futaba spectrum you'll want one soon anyway.$200 one of my best investments.

barebones is great thats what I did.

the 3100 is a great combo and cheap but less of a performer.

I am still using eflite servos from BCPP about same as esky need 4 I had to buy an extra going from motor tail to belt.

I am using the gy240 It can not be controlled from remote that doesn't bother me. And it only has 3 adjustments gain pot and switches for reverse servo and HH or rate mode.

a great charger is the cellpro4s fmadirect will fast or slow balance charge any size pack. And as far as batteries go they are all good some just last longer than others buy quantity at cheap prices a 2200mah will barely fit in a king but will go into a rex later. But for now I would just buy 3 1350-1500mah packs.

I will also suggest in motors the HDX300 3800rpm 8 or 9t pinion is this for beginner? I use an ele30 amp esc bigger is better runs cooler. this motor will grow with you its a little hot but can be tamed down by using a smaller pinion. I am using a 10 and it moves.

I don't know much about the better radios except I would like one. I am using the stock radio which works well for what it is. I am using ESKY's 8 gram servos, definately not the best but they do work well and you can get gear sets for like 2 or 3 bucks. I think Gyronut is using HS-65's for his King and TREX, more expensive but great quality.

The JR770 and 790 Scan Select receivers fit nicely in the HBK2. I use the JR9303 and GY401 on mine and like the fact that you can adjust the gyro right from the radio. Great deals on here for the GY240 can be had and they work great also!

OK this is gonna sound like a smart@$$ question please don't take it this way. I am curious owning the gy240 over the 401 differences are I can not adjust gyro gain or switch from HH to rate mode from my radio or use a digital servo which makes your gyro superior to mine for not much more money. But do you use those functions much and if so when (what circumstances) or is it just a great convenience at setup? I just want to know if I'm missing something.

Tryan, Your correct that the remote gain and such makes setup easier and not used much after that unless you change parts-setup. The digital servo option is the big thing for me because I feel they are a more precise servo over analog. Also the GY240 uses a 70Hz operating system and the GY401 operates at 270Hz making it a faster reacting gyro.

Thank you for the education tmaxx26power for the flying I do the gy240 is fine. I don't know any better but for another $20 it would make sense to buy the 401 its only 2 grams heavier.

There are times I'm unhappy with remote gain. It takes a channel that I could use for retracts or lites or what ever. Only use it when trimming or putting on a new tail servo. I would not miss it if I didn't have it

Blusaber, All it takes is a 9-channel receiver to run it all!
