Tryan I was just poking you with a stick from afar... I have a son in the Marine Corps. He's been stationed in Okinowa for the last 7 years so we don't get to see him often... I believe he is riding around on a carrier right now. Isn't it great that the navy is a taxi service for the Marines!!!!

I know the Navy owns all of the ships and the Marines get the job done..... Jk... I would like to personally thank you for your service to this country... I don't think our service people get the proper respect or PAY for the job they do. You should walk tall and be proud of your commitment to serve this country.... Thank you very much......

WOW I really appreciate that I got out of the Navy in 93 and you are the first person to ever thank me for my service. It takes a military family to respect the military. I wish your son the best of luck in his travels.

But you are forgetting part of the chain the navy delivers the marines to take the hill the army watches the hill then looses said hill and the marines doubleback to take the hill again. War is a vicious circle.

In 71 we had the lottery system instead of the automatic draft prior to that... I was 352 in the lottery and the military was taking the first 50 so I was pretty safe... The recruiters tested me with every other male, at school and I scored very high, I only asked for one thing, guarantee that I fly something and I will sign... I had been flying a piper tri pacer with my father for years. They said son there are no guarantees in life... So I didn't go to Nam... Which was probably a good thing For me, many of my friend didn't come home.... I have always respected a person in the military, as it is a very big personal committment to this country....

I think they knew I would win the war in 3 months and had no place to take the war too, so they denied me the chance.... Yes that is it... I was denied.....

Proud member of the United States Navy also. USS IOWA BB-61 87-92.
The Navy has a lot of different types of ship, but NONE could match the thunder of a Battleship. Let me tell you, when all nine 16" guns went off at once during a broadside shoot. WOW. I loved every minute of it. EXCEPT, when we lost 47 of my shipmates to the explosion that rocked turret two. If everyone of you who reads this can take a moment for me, to remember the fallen, the missing, and the ones who the dearest price for the freedoms we enjoy today, it would be appreciated.

*** moment of silence***

NOW, on to lighter matters....

The job is done here in Lansing IA and now I get to go home to my waiting heli parts. so that I may reserect said heli and bring her to life once again.

I work a 12-14 hour shift out on the road, and when I get back to the hotel, DAMN you people give me enough material to read for an hour!!
