hello all,
i decided to buy HBK2! is it a lot better than blade cp? i am going to use evrything stock right out of box (tx,rx,servos, receiver, gyro, and etc) EXCEPT motor. is this setup still ok?

my first heli was eflite blade cp. is HBK2 a lot better than blade cp? more like trex? i wanted to buy trex but it costs too much. i dont think i can afford it at this moment. if hbk2 is a lot more like trex, i would definately buy it!

where did you guys buy yours? which site has the cheap price? i have so many questions but i will stop here. my last question. does this heli handle wind well? handle wind better than blade cp?

thanks

I got mine at Jag Hobbies and love it. I got the barebones kit and used the Blade servos along with my DX7. Its a totally different flying and ownership experience. Lots of BCCP refugees here. You are in good company. The only downside, parts aren't local. But then again the are cheaper and you will need less of them. Just keep a bunch in stock and you'll be fine. My only regret is not doing it sooner and had the Blade for only 2 months (and 5 sets of blades, 2 feathering shafts and spare parts).

About the wind, yes it will handle wind better. But this is really a pilot thing. Can you handle the wind? The HBK2 will make it easier. But most of handling the wind will be up to you.

You will need to go brushless right away. I'd also get a HH gyro, and couple 1350 batteries along with a new charger. I know, its adding up quick, but that's the right way to do it.

For gyros, at the bottom is Esky for $38. Next the Telebee around $60. If you have a G90 from your Blade you can use it. But I wouldn't by one new. If you've got the money and a computer radio get the LogicTech 2100t or the Futaba 401. Its a part they you can move to other helis should you move on. Also you might outgrown one of the sub-$100 gyros as your skills progress. Keep asking questions, we can take it.

Thanks for the reply. So I have to buy new charger, new gyro, and new brushless motor+speed controller?

I do not have a tx. does the stock tx work well? my budget is under $300. what setup would be good for 300 bucks?

sorry for my english

YonGary, I am still using the stock radio and it really does work well, The pots don't seem to wear out quickly and get jiddery like the Eflite TX did. I also used the stock rate gyro for a month and a half and for a rate gyro it really does work well. I am also using the Esky charger to charge batteries, certainly not the best charger but it does charge batteries O.K. Don't get TO caught up in the upgrade thing, focus a little more on being the BEST pilot YOU can be. But if you can afford upgrades, by all means, Upgrade, and if you CAN REALLY afford upgrades then maybe you can help Me UPGRADE, just kidding! , Welcome and Enjoy your new King !! All Hail the KING !

just go buy a t-rex...sounds like you really want one...if you want a HBK get one, its a great heli...but its not a t-rex, its not almost a t-rex,and it doesn't fly like a t-rex..... it does fly just like a HBK though

Upgrades

Motor and ESC - The stock motor is underpowered and has been reported to wear out in just a few flights. You may get a good one. You can start with the stock one, and then upgrade it after it fries. But that could mean you are grounded waiting for UPS to arrive.

Gyro - IMO HH gyros are a must for new pilots. If you are a new flyer, a rate gyro is hard to fly. I've never flown the Esky rate gyro, but my LogicTech has a rate mode. Compared to HH mode, rate mode is really difficult to fly. The tail is drifting all over the place and I'm constantly working that tail which distracts from the other control surfaces. With a HH gyro, you really don't even think about the tail except for where you'd like it. Put it there and it stays. The wind doesn't spin around and put you an orientation youre not ready for. Doug is quite a bit better pilot than me, which may be why he has less trouble in rate mode. You can try it, then order the Esky gyro for $38 to see how much better a HH gyro will be.

Batteries and Charger - This is a "nice to have" thing. You can use the stock battery and charger but you'll get much less flight time and far more down time waiting for the battery to charge.

Trex vs HBK2 - Your bugdet tells the story here. Trex is over $500 and you will still need servos, a charger, tx and rx.

I learned with the rate gyro up to hovering and small circles on the BCPP. Its tough but you should use the rate gyro as a newbie you'll need to make sure your left thumb works. Mine didn't but it does now. If I had to do it all over I would of either kept my Eco8 or bought the brushless BeltCP but I like fast and responsive after the BCPP so i was stuck between the 2 and went the cheap route. HBK2 barebones kit.

Ok, thanks for the replys guys. I was going to buy a RTF kit but one guy offered me a great deal.

he is going to buy a HBK2 ARF kit ($90) from helidirect or some other sites and then buy 4 8g servos ($25).
he has a HBK2, but he said that he does not use the stock setup and wanted to throw them out to me. (tx,rx,gyro,charger,1000 mah lipo battery)
And then he is going to install all the electronics to my HBK2 and setup it up and trim. Then he is going to test fly mine before sending it to me.

total $145-147 shipped. i think this is really a great offer. what do you guys think?

i cant wait!

No I just dont know the condition you know how many crashes with all the stuff how bad are they beat up. Im not convincing you to buy new just I would hate to see you get old stuff that may need replacing already.
And if your really worried about setup jaghobbies.com will take your new king out of the box and do all setup and test fly for $10 before they ship it to you. $149 for heli $10 setup and shipping from them is super cheap maybe 10-15 bucks .

that is right. i didnt think about that. good info. i have to ask him how many flights the electonics had and how many crashes they had, and etc..

and if jaghobby does all the setup before they ship, i'd rather buy it from them. buying the new stuff is always more exciting to me.

thanks again.

look at the page you'll see services they'll do just about anything for you. I think If you don't know this person buying from a ebayer or something it would be better to spend another 20 or even 30 bucks to have new stuff.

just my opinion and what I would do.
