Maybe I missed it.

I can see fenders point it would up the tailrotor torque and give a quicker more authoritative tail. I know I hear it all the time I ride a harley you feel torque in a takeoff not horsepower. But my overpriced gyro does that for me quite well.

I'll bet the small(if any)power lost would be felt in a more responsive tail....since I have power to spare ...I'll take that trade off.....I'll be a guinea pig........I've done it before and it worked out fine....I'll order it with some christmas money

this the one
Sorry missed it.

I thought you were gonna upgrade gyros that will put the snap back in the tail. But your last vid seemed solid nose in piro. Dont mind me long day past my bedtime.

I went to the Trex tail blades(small mod and servo relocation required) and it helped the tail a bunch. Then the addition of the GY401 and it's rock solid no matter how ugly you fly

Can you give me more details about what is required to fit the Trex blades on?

Blusaber: I had just replaced the HS-50 with a JR S185 Now that was worth it much nicer servo 4 oz/in more torque and much better centering.
Gary

I use a Telebee 6g in conjuction with the JRS185 servo. When i read the specs on the package in the LHS, then looked at the price ($20), I bought it and got out quick in case there was a mistake. Fantastic little servo. Only 6g, blazing fast - .08sec/60º at 4.8v; .06sec/60º at 6v. Tail is very solid now.

Stop thinking of upgrading and get rid of that thing! POS75's are crap. Not worthy of the plastic that the case is made of. Notoriously untrustworthy. I've had 6 - 3 were bad out of the pack (of the 4 that came with the DX6) and 1 more locked up solid causing an inverted idle-up positive pitch head-down crash onto asphalt with the King.

YMMV, of course...

The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.

The root on the Trex tail blade is just a touch wider then the HB blades. I took an exacto knife and slightly trim the tail blade holder. I don't take much for a perfect fit. I had to readjust the placement of the tail servo in rate mode due to the larger blades having more authority.

^^^ Thanks! Which blades were these. Appearently the new V2 blades (dubed Batman, I think) have a different design.

I have been using the(dare I say it) TREX tail blades from the XL model(yellow)and made no modifications, they are a little tight at the root, but I run snug blades anyway, they don't have to be all loose and dangly. I did however turn the gyro gain down a smidgeon!!

DougsRC, I'm also using the Trex XL yellow blades. Your right the trimming mod is not necessary but I didn't really like the way the slightly wider blades felt as they were pushed into the blade holders. I like to run my blades on the tight side also and I think the slight trim gave it a better overal feel when snugged up. Maybe I was just being to picky...

It's good to be picky, especially with heli's, I'm kinda impatient sometimes and rush things, but everyone's a little different !!
