I've flown in this area a fair bit.

If you go here, don't follow these maps, just look for the other flyers, as his parking and directions are wrong.

Hey Bryan, I don't think I've ever seen you there, and I'm friends with a lot of the plankers as well as the heli guys. You should speak up and come fly with the regulars, and not off by the street.

You sure you've ever flown here? All your info's kind of wonky.

Looks like you've got a Shogun in your fleet. You should come out and trade Shogun tips with me.

Peace.

Thanks for the great find. Are rc cars/trucks welcome to these fields? I have a 450se and 600E that I'd like to fly, but also would like to play around with my rc trucks.

Please let me know. I have a friend coming down from Texas for a couple of days and I'd like to show him my toys and try to get him into the rc hobby stuff.

Thanks,

Jody J.

Jody ive seen some big rc trucks and cars out there raceing around. I was there today flying my 450 and had no problems at all. I believe Sat and Sundays are the best days if you would like to fly with others. The area is huge and can accommodate everyone.

Enjoy

Went to the field today to get some practice in and on my 2nd flight I crashed my 450. I think I got to talking to the other guys and I forgot to change out the lipo and crashed my heli. What a total dumb azz I am. Forgot to change the lipo.

Hey,

I'm in Irvine this week visiting my cousins. Anybody going to be at this field during the week or during the weekend? If so, maybe I'll stop by.

Lowflyer dont worry about me and when I fly there. Just know I and many others do also its not your field is it? You and other people here on RR might think so but I think not. Your Pms to me leads me to believe you are just a little boy with nothing better to do but keep people from flying here.

This field is huge and should be enjoyed by all.

i've been flying there on and off the last year and a half. the cops regularly stopped by and told us to leave since it's private property.

I flew there next to the Discovery buildings the past 2 Sundays and today at lunch flying the Trex 500 and 600 I haven't seen a cop there everytime I went, but the security guard usually drives by and doesn't say anything.

I've never flown at the field but it looks huge.

Does anyone know if "The Great Park" (ex-Marine Corps Air Station El Toro) will have a flying field? There seems to be a huge amount of space there. It would be nice to have an AMA field where you didn't have to worry about the police and security guards.

Yes this is by far the largest field around. Ive been able to meet alot of nice people out there during the week. Sat and Sunday are the days to go and see some nice flying and great crashes. I have come across some strange individuals that fly there on the weekends but I think every field has those.

I thought that was the old MCAS El Toro base in the corner of that one pic. I spent a lot of years on that base. It looks like the area hasn't grown too much yet. Is the base all torn down now?

Plowed,

I don't know what is going on with Gyro. They hardly have any parts anymore. I think it's a tough business with the internet and helis are not a priority there.

Try Ultimate Hobbies. Go north on the 55. Off at Katella. Left turn at the end of the ramp. Turn left at Tustin Ave and right into the first driveway. A lot of Trex stock and a few other helis.

Rob's RC in Garden Grove is good as well, much smaller, but they know what they are doing.
