Got my bezine in the air today after a long battle with the electronics...Noticing right off the bat, the heavy amd stable feel of the helicopter..I find the recommended -2 pitch causes a real lag in getting the helicopter down from flight... I assume that this is to keep you from creating alot on inertia and unrecoverable desent speed.

Perhaps those of you with considerable flight time on a bezine might chime in and help me either adjust my flying style or suggest alternate set ups ...Looking forward to setting my Jet ranger body on and giving it a go

Thanks and Happy Holidays

Coming Down!!!!!

Those nice big wide cord blades do make it a little tricky to get down the first few times, and I think that it was a safe cushion for you to start with... it is a heavy machine....
But you can adjust the low end pitch to your liking... I run -4 degrees in my normal set up and -2 only in idle up one to help keep things smooth....and don't be afraid to "flatten" your throttle curve below hover position to keep the engine at speed when you are trying to descend!!!! It is not bad if the engine stays on "tune"...
I have mine in the Jet Ranger and once you get it mounted in there, you will be making some minor pitch and throttle adjustments again... so for now just fly it and set it so that you are comfortable with it, and go have fun...
Is that one SMOOOOOOTH machine or what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best Of Luck....Stan

Its a great bird...Really looking forward to getting some time on it.

BUT can't wait to see that jet ranger fuse in the air .I am running the recommended -2 + 5 8+ might put that up to 10+ to get some help in the catching dept... I also was flying in my hover mode...I'll the get Idle 1 adjusted and see what a more constant head speed will do

You're only flying +8 degrees at the top?....what is your headspeed?

Try +10 and -4 and see if the engine will pull it. -2 not enough for descent for me

I am as well. I was just curious. My head is taching at 1160 on the UH. I figured your headspeed may be a little high with only +8 on top, I guess if you taylor the throttle curve it would work, I just like more pitch to work with.

Pitch

I am with CJ on the pitch settings.... I use +10 to 11 on top and feel that it helps to keep the engine loaded... not that you need it to fly....and as posted, I use -4 at the bottom and this seems to work fine in my Jet Ranger... the wet weight is 22.5 lbs and it still feels "light" at these settings and I am flying the Vario scale blades on it... (see gallery)

It will take you a little time to get used to flying this heli... especially the landings!!! They seem to gain speed on final very quickly and the first few landings turn out to be "pretty" long!!!!! But once you get the feel of it and the timing down, you will be placing it like a 50 sized nitro!!!!

Have fun and send up some pic's of the new Jet Ranger!!!!!

They should provide plenty of lift and loading for the engine but you may not be able to pull the full +10 degrees with them but it won't matter. Try gradually increasing the top pitch and see how the engine copes with it.

Blades...

FCM is correct on whether or not the 419's will let you pull +10... I haven't had to....and I am running the 419's also....
It sounds more like you need to just bring up the bottom and time the throttle a bit so that you can "catch" it at the bottom when landing....with these blades you are talking only a couple of points to make this happen....
My P curve on the pod and boom is 6,20,26,34(hover),45, 59, and 100 and during flight not even close to the 59 setting!!!
In the Jet Ranger it is 24,44,58, 74(hover), 84, and 97. The big difference being the blades and weight...
On the P&B you can see how closly the hover and the next two steps down are so that the transition from forward is smooth and no problem at all to stop at the bottom....
I know that without each pitch setting for each point it may not mean a lot, but the info is more to show you what the curve will look like.... hope the info helps you out...

Blades

With the 419 blades I would not go over 1200, if I can find a nice smooth spot a little under 1200 I will take it.

Headspeed......

I keep mine at 1175 to 1200 and the stated max for these blades is 1250.
As you said, it will take a little time to gey used to the machine but you are on your way!!!!!
Enjoy it!!!!
