e-Electric Motors & Controllers > Mega brushless for eHelis?

Anyone running a Mega motor brushless setup (such as what http://www.dynamoelectrics.com sells) on a e-Heli, like a Logo10?

If so, what combo are you running?

How does it compare to the Hacker, Kontroniks, etc?

Please tell us about it and elaborate.

I talked to two different Mega dealers, and they both recommended the following for the Logo10:

Mega 22/30/2 and Phoenix 45. This combo would cost around $215.

Not sure what pinion to run. I have seen somewher in another forum that the Mega requires a large pinion that won't fit into the Logo "motor washer" (adaptor), or possibly the motor plate, not sure which.

Anybody know?

Hey Chris,

I don't recall hearing anyone using a mega in the Logo. If there are, there aren't that many of them. The 22/30/2 should work though, it has a 5mm shaft which is the right size for the pinions, and it's in the right kv range. About the equivalent of a hacker 14L, a 13T or 14T pinion would be good to start with.

I do like the CC Phoenix, I'm using one in the EP I got from you, and I'd think it would be ok in the Logo. Still, I highly recommend the Kontronic Beat 55-6-18, very soft start, great governor programming, opto isolated, and closest thing to bulletproof. You'll never have to mess with it.

Either way, get the UBEC Rx battery elimination board and you're set.

Pete, HI!

I was wondering if the Mega would fit, does it have the right bolt pattern? etc. I did find some people mention using a Mega in a Logo10 on the Ezonemag site. Some have even used a Aveox.

Looks like its a moot point for me, see below.

I did it! I found a Logo10 used (sort of). I was considering buying new, hence my exploration into Mega motors, Pheonix controllers, etc.

Here are the specs:

Logo 10 USA kit $
Motor Hacker B50-13L
/ESC Schulze Fut-18.46K
Upgrades Carbon Vert/Horzn Fins, Carbon battery plate, Carbon Gyro plate, and a bunch of upgrades for the rotor head, wash-out hub ball raced, swashplate aluminum, etc...
MAH blades

I bought from flatspin (he is on the "good guy" list.)

Pete, can you give me your opinion of the above, and how it might fly? (I mean power-wise)?

I have a Futaba GY401/9253 on its way, I plan to order the Ultimate BEC (should I get the smaller one?)

I still need servos, and Rx, Batteries and a charger.

Pete, you changed your site! What happened to the EP and the Piccolo?

Cool,

The Schulze 18.46k used to have a few problems last year, that must be a fixed one. Not sure how the MAH blades are, I use the Funkeys. I bet it will fly very well, and have some very good oomph. If you run a high head speed, make sure it has the thrust bearings, but based on the otger goodies you list, I bet it does. I see it had a CF battery plate, most likely because of drooping batteries. I like the MEC solderless power tubes. The 2 steel rods support the batteries very well, can be repaired in a crash and allow for you to replace single bad cells easily. Check the motor pinion, it may be setup for a high head speed, you may want to tune it down a little...

I just checked my site, I did make some mods, but the EP and the Piccolo stuff are still there. Let me know if you still can't get to them for some reason. Did you see my new EP paint scheme?
