Main Discussion > How Many Modes ( Idle-Ups ) do you Run.?

it not "rough" to have fewer idle ups, its more important to have transition points so when you flip the switch, the headspeed and pitch remain the same without moving the stick for a given condition...like a hover.

it can be rough to "botch" an auto and have to basically dump the clutch if you hit the left stick before the hold switch, thats just a matter of keeping the left stick down before flipping the hold switch off to recover.

I also run only 2 modes myself:

Normal: for hovering and flying around (pitch: -4/+9)
Idle up 1: for 3d and severe crash (-10/+10)

FLYING IS NOT DANGEROUS; CRASHING IS

OH MY GOD!

I run 7 flight modes
Nornal, 5 idle ups, and a hold
The 9ZWC2 has three position switches so I have 2 on the normal idle up switch, two on the "elevator dual rate" switch, and one on the switch right next to that. Every model I fly is set up for all switches to do the same thing so I got used to it and never even think about it now. When I do decide to make a change, I have to change every model to match.

A correction

I orgianlly said 2, but with the electrics I do run three. (1) for noraml. (2) for stunt. and (3) for a stunt with low head speed.

modes

I run 4.

Normal, -4, +12 1500
Idle up 1 -4, +12, 1800
Idle up 2 -10, +12 1750 V curve
Hold -6, +12

Setups are usually based upon the manuever. Gordies 7 modes are a perfect example. Set the heli up for the best configuration for that specific manuever. With the flexibility of the 9Z WCII, no reason not to.

Unless there is a mechanical change required, 1 machine can be setup for FAI as well as 3D.
