YellowAlert Heliman Location: London, UK
| I'm trying to find a decent heli club close to Reading (Berkshire, UK), but not having much luck. I've searched the BMFA website, but all options are either oversubscribed, unsuitable or too far away. Anyway, here is the list:-
+ Oxon Model Heli Collective (helis) - excellent club (I'm a member), but a longish drive
+ Maidenhead Radio Modellers (planks/helis) - excellent club (I'm a member), but it's primarily a plank club, so heli flying is limited
+ Farnham Model Helicopter Club (helis) - appears to be a good club, but oversubscribed (I'm on the waiting list) and a slightly long drive anyway
+ Reading and District Model Aircraft Club (planks/helis) - not in my opinion a safe place to fly helis due to site in a public park with civilians/dogs milling around just waiting to be decapitated by a model
+ Wings and Rotors (planks/helis) - apparently a good club but oversubscribed (I've repeatedly emailed the contacts on their website but never had a reply), and apparently have site issues
+ Bracknell & District Model Aircraft Club (planks/helis) - looks good but oversubscribed (I'm on the waiting list), and their site is in doubt
I hear rumours of clubs in Henley and Twyford (both heli-only I think) - but they are apparently oversubscribed anyway.
Can anyone suggest any other clubs in the area, or a place too look? Failing that, is anyone interested in starting a new club? Even a small field only suitable for electrics (well, quiet ones) would be worthwhile.
Cheers, Sam |
