I got a set of Integy hex wrenches from the car section of the hobby shop for $30. For how much I use them and how good they work they are worth $100 to me. Mavvrikk are OK but seem cheaply made. Spend a little more to get a good set, you'll use them a lot.

Wiha are JUNK, I rounded out 2 tips and they are not replacable.

Get a set where you can replace the tips. I am using KSJ and they are great! I have snapped the tip on the 1.5mm twice due to overtorquing and have got new tips with no problem.

As a matter of fact when you order your wrenches order at least one extra 1.5mm tip.

BTW, Lots of RC Car shops carry similar tools and are usually great quality. Trinity tools are good too.

The highest quality hex drivers are made by THORP. Available here. http://www.hobbylinc.com/cgi-bin/s4.cgi They have a 3mm ball driver that is indespensible. The 1.5mm driver is THE best for those small set screws. Tips are repairable. They are not cheap, however.

Ditto on Thorp; best there is, period. Equalled, perhaps, by the like of Hudy and other high-quality offerings; but not surpassed. I made the mistake of buying a couple of Dynamite drivers at Ron's get-together a few years back; what junk.

I have a set of Wiha drivers that I bought in 1992 which are still going strong. Maybe they have cheapened their alloy, but I've got at least a dozen different ball drivers, screw drivers, and nut drivers from Wiha, and they see the most use on my bench.

I break out the Thorp drivers when some serious tightening or loosening is necessary. They fit much more precisely than the Wihas, which are worn a bit; plus the larger handles allow for much greater torque to be applied. You won't ever round one off, but they will break if you apply a side load while turning. The shafts on these are made from industrial drill rod. If you break one, Thorp will re-cut it for a nominal fee.

You can spend more if you wish; Hudy, Ofna, and a few others offer fancy knurled aluminum handles that are expensive to produce. But the large plastic handles on the Thorps don't give up anything; except, perhaps, "cool factor".

KSJ is okay, too. Got a couple of those. The replaceable bit concept is a good one, if properly executed. But one of my KSJs has the hole for the bit drilled off-center, making the tool somewhat interesting to use.

Sorry, not familiar with the Mavvrikk(?) brand. Isn't that Heli-Proz's "house brand"? Hope they are better than Irwin's trash; made the mistake of trying them once.

Ofna

I have a set of the Ofna's. As much as I use them, I would have worn out 5 sets of regular allen's. These are super hardened. I'm sure the Wiha's are good too, I have their nut/screwdrivers.

in my book, there is no substitue for big handles
when you wanna lay some torque down.
The Hudy/Ofna/Whia just cant generate enough
in the larger sizes liek 3mm, and its worse
w/ the metal handles and oily hands.

I use the Yale yellow handles but they went
outta biz a few years ago. Very much like
the Thorps.

As far as the 1.5mm's go, you might really
want to consider using a 1/16" SAE instead.
It is only larger by a few thou but grab the head
of the setscrews much better and almost
always prevent stripping out the setscrew
since those setscrews tend to be a fragile.
