On mine I soldered all the yellows to the red banana and all the blacks to the black banana. More wires carries more current.

I'm using a 12v car battery for now. I'll need it in a couple months when I sell the car. Its being charged by a 20 year old Schumacher charger I bought at Costco. Running off the charger alone the voltage is either too high or too low.

When I put the car battery back in service I plan to get a used PC power supply. The bummer is that I cleaned by garage last summer and threw away a couple old PCs. This was well before I knew I'd be getting into heli's.

For my RC car I have a Bekin 210. It has its own power supply and also runs on 12v DC. Its a really nice charger for Nicads and NiMh. But doesn't work for Lipo.

I love smelling red and green Loc-Tite. lol. I started out with a PC power supply but I electrocuted myself with it. I went to a Hobbico 12v and that works great at the house. I was wondering what you guys use at a field. I just learned that deep cycle batteries work well. I want to join a club over here in NJ. They fly electrics and I want to start getting set up with some packs and 12v to get a few more charges in. I hear regular car batts are not that good to charge from because they are designed to have the type of power to crank a car over.

I use a 20 amp Astron bench supply at home. At the field I don't charge.

I use the power supply that comes with the Hobbico Accu-Cycle Elite at home.
At the field we use car batteries, even for nitros, radios or high power lipo bats for electric T-Rexs.

I used to have a CPP, now i have a Honey "blade" King 2 and a Raptor 50

The issue with normal car batteries is that thier life will be shortened if you regularly discharge them below 11.5v. Deep cycle batteries handle deep discharge much better and are better suited for charge/deep discharge uses. However if you use a regular car battery you'll have to charge a lot of lipos before the voltage drops below 11.5v.

In my garage setup, I use a 12v battery charge and a car battery whenver the Cellpro is running. The car battery is used only to help provide constant voltage to the Cellpro. Its only temporary until I aquire a PC power supply.

For the field I've heard of some people using the small 12v gel cell batteries, like the one from Hanger9. Although they are pretty small and I'm not sure how many charge cycles you'd get out of them.

The field closest to me has the parking right on the grass, and its somewhat isolated so you don't get spectators milling about in the pits. So it would be feasible to run the charger directly off the car battery. Of course standard lipo precautions are required, such as charging in an ammo can, or having the battery far enough from the car that if it were to explode it would only burn the grass. I was thinking about making an extension cord with bananna plugs for the Cellpro.

Oh you should use the new 13V converted Japanise import from www.jap13Vimports.com

The extra voltage makes all the diffrence during deadstick manovers..

Cheers

Keep the thumbs happy
