http://indoorpylon.de/videos/mamo3mlipoheli.wmv This is a beautiful 3 meter scale heli (electric) Credit goes to TomRex for finding this. The sound and size of it is INCREDIBLE !! TRYAN ,you have to see this !

That is the most incredible thing I have ever saw. And the !$#@ing thing was electric yet we cant design an electric car to run around town? Put a camera on that thing you could fly it downtown and pick up groceries.

IMAGINE how much those Li-Po's cost?? Apparently the oil companies have way too much power, keeping us depending too much on the black gold. That heli is a perfect example of if you can dream it, you can do it !!!!
(If it was any bigger, he could set the transmitter on the dashboard and take it for a spin, FROM INSIDE IT !!!

TRYAN, You're an electrical engineer so you would know way more about this than I would but why couldn't someone utilize huge Lithium polymer batteries and charge them using only solar power and or wind turbine power, completely eliminating the need for oil to power an auto or full size heli, are we on the cusp of such technoligy, afew years away?? Whats your opinion ??

there is a guy that comes in to the station I work at with a chevy s-10 converted to 100% electric and we talk batts all the time...there was a company very similar to A123 a couple years ago that once it went public it got bought by an oil company and hasn't been heard from since(A123 is a private co)...so oil companies are ACTIVELY trying to keep us dependant on oil and eliminate any threat.....batteries have come LEAPS AND BOUNDS in the last year....what does the future hold????...its a good time to be flying electric

Fender, What is he using for batteries in the Chevy(lead-acid)?? How far can he go on a charge????

thats essentially a perpetual motion device your thinking of let me know if you find one. The rate at which we can store energy is not comparable to the way we consume it. It takes a 1/2 hour to charge my pack and 5 min to burn it. thats the barrier that cant be overcome. If you look to the chevy volt that is the only true hybrid coming out in a year or two It uses lipos a new breed supposedly and as for you fender Exon mobile is working on lipo technology HHHMMMM I can assume this is where chevy will get its battery. But the chevy volt uses a flexfuel generator to charge its batteries. So were talking hundreds of miles to the gallon.

yes,if you lift the bed(on hinges)the entire underside is lead acid batteries......its funny when we get a new gas attendent, he pulls up to the pump and says"filler up" but when you open the gas door theres a 3 prong plug in there...you should see the looks....HILLARIOUS....I think he gets about 100 miles on a charge I'll have to check next time he;s in, he just did some mods so I'm not sure...he can use 50% of capacity right now.....and the thing MOVES, it will spin the tires if you want......its great for cruising around town...plenty of range and power....I'll get some specs when he comes in...he's doing up a harley now with A123...just like the KILLICYCLE that broke the speed record recently

the only reason the oil companies are "saying "they are working on batts is its politically correct to be green right now and that is $$$$$$$...the government also cooperates more with them if they are making an attempt........if the government had no incentives and people weren't screaming "GREEN"...the oil companies wouldn't give one "POO POO" about battery power

I sure would like to see that truck I'm curious of the power conversion Not sure if you know this but 12VDC does not turn a 3 phase motor thats why we have brushless speed controllers on our helis. And lead acid Damn I would assume deep cycle marine for longevity that would weigh a lot.

TRYAN, I wasn't thing of a solar panel on the vehicle itself but more of a large charging station, like field of panels and or turbines where batteries are charged separate from the vehicle and utilized one at a time! Probably too costly to set up anyway!!

Apparently you did not watch that future cars series on Discovery channel. pumps would sit in the middle of nowhere totally self sufficient the sun charges a solar panel and uses electrolysis a gallon of water to make hydrogen and the solar also powers the pump.

therefore Hydrogen is the car of the future but there is no money it now new lipos every 3 or 4 years now were talkin good money.

Not by conventional definitions.

Quote
perpetual motion usually refers to a device or system that delivers more energy than is put into it.

Charging by the sun or wind is still an energy input and the batteries discharge the energy. It is not a closed system and is dependent on more energy being put into it in order to sustain output. It violates no scientific laws.

Thats what I believe I was saying you cant get more energy in than you consume. Like a windmill generator is about as close as you can get when you are not consuming it it feeds the grid cause the energy has to go somewhere as its not stored yet. But still relies on the outside source wind.

speak of the devil.......the guy just called to schedule an oil change for one of his fleet trucks(the s-10 is his personal vehicle)...he's using 20 6V batteries for about 120 volts......he gets about 40-50 miles on a charge in cold weather(more as temp increases)

edit.....he's doing research now to go li-ion....he will get about 300 miles on a charge
