Schluter Mini-Boy - First Flight

OK, things have gotten a little quiet in this topic lately. Hope to spice things up a bit...

Previously posted the first 2 tanks hovering to tune in the heli. This is the first forward flight.
Make sure you check out the credits at the end of the video.

Happy Flying!

Great flight video Tutelar! Looks like it flies on rails. I especially liked your technique of dipping it into the snow about half-way through the flight to cool the engine.

You're inspiring me to finish my Mini-Boy ....and my GMP Cobra.
Too many projects!

Thanks for sharing.

Is this only for helis that are able to fly. I have an old GMP Competitor Pro, but it hasn't flown in years. I lost the tail servo on my last flight with it and nearly wrecked. It was a gift from my dad and I have been too afraid to fly it since. I lost the remote when I moved a few years ago too

No, not at all. It's perfectly OK to bring a "hangar queen" and put it on display as a non-flyer. But be aware that those pilots too chicken to loft their oldies will be subject to hazing and the random practical joke on their person

Just kidding!!! Bring what you can. Let's flood the field with vintage heli's, flying or not. C U there!

I followed it on eBay...

That's one fine Kavan 'Lunch box' Ranger there Gary. Bring it along and show it off. Hopefully TheRocketman knows how to pack it for a safe trip to you.

Please, if you haven't already done it, replace all the plastic links in your Gazelle with new parts. You'll be glad you did!

Mmmm....Blue Head.....

That's one of my favorite engines. Not all that strong by today's standards but very consistent and reliable.

If it's castor that's glued it together, try warming it up to 250°F to soften the goo. Once moving you can shoot some carb cleaner through it and free it up pretty good but don't try running it until you flush all the residue from the bearings and piston ring grooves.

I have a G60 Blue Head in a Kavan JetRanger needing some attention. This is bound for IRCHA so it better be working correctly!

Good luck and keep us posted.

Glad to see continued interest!

CoastalTom: I appreciate your dedication to watch the entire video. Glad it was snow and not the ground.

Is there final word regarding IRCHA yet? I still need to make plans...

23 RTF + Hanger Queens - this helps my travel arrangements. I'll travel light, leaving my helis at home, and spend my time with everyone else in your travelling museum...

I can't leave my birds at home. They need their food and water daily. I don't trust anyone else to care for them so they follow me or I don't go.

HFr, aren't you going to bring any oldies to play with?
