Hi all ,just wanted to post some pics of my newframe build.
I like the 200,but I really prefered the frame design of the plastic 100,but not its flimsiness. So I have made a frame out of G10 based on the plastics design. My criteria was:
1.use G10 no static issues
2.make it lighter than the pro version
3.had to have high durability
4.had to be able to fit better servos than it had before(in my case the new JR S185's.
5.no flex in frame
6.Bigger batteries

Well after a month of tinkering this is what I came up with.
strength?I threw it across the yard and all it did was roll around
Weight 25 grams (beat pro by 4 grams)
Servos fit like a snug bug and by moving them in I got much better geometry on the links.(plus all the smaller servos still fit)
Flex?no way no how
Batteries?the pic shows a tp1320 3s in the frame
As an aside all of the 200 conversion parts fit just fine

Here are the pics, please post any good or bad comments that you wish.My plan has been to take it apart and scan the finished parts into templates for anyone to male their own,but so far no one seems to be interested on the other boards.

Your frames are very cool!!

stronger, lighter, bigger batteries... what's not to like

Was thinking a 200 was just a little small to be spending money on and flying right now (thinking "some day"... but your new frame is Very Cool and has me re-thinking that.

I have batteries from an old Blade CP laying around, that I could use with your frame

What other forums did you post on... that didn't seem interested?

Nice work.

When you say roll around, please elaborate.

I have 2 EP100s

The 1st one blew up in flight.

A link came off.

Not a pretty sight.

I love my pro.

Same servos as you.

800 mAh 2s Batt.

I enjoy flying it in the house for winter.

The coax is boring.

actually mike when i finished it i was just curious if it could take any impact at all.the frame is so stiff i cant twist it at all,so i took it outside and just threw it hard across the yard.all it did was just bounced a few times and rolled around till it stopped, not scientific, but it satisfied me it could take some abuse.
while i know a loaded frame is much more likely to destruct,im still happy with it.the g10 came from msc and a 12x24 sheet was 16.00,total cost was 27 to ship it.you can make alot of parts from a 12x24 sheet trust me.id wager 6-7 full frames in either 200 pro or plastic style.at 13.00 50.00 and 85.00 a whack 27.00 and my time seems much more worth it to me,plus if it does break im only down long enough to come in and whip a new piece out and install it instead of having to buy one and wait for it to be shipped to me.

thanks for the positive input so far guys keep the opinions coming.
as far as other interest i posted on rcgroups wattflier and helifreak.hf gave alot of views, but no one asked anything so i have to assume no interest.

mike at 17.00 a servo these s185's are great to me,mine center great and are fast as all get out.how are yours for you so far?im using 4 as they are even faster than hitecs 50's and are made from real servo polypropalene instead of that brittle blue crap.

I'm fairly new at this, so I don't have alot to compare. However:

The $80 Bluebirds for 4. 2 failed within 2 weeks.

I scrapped them and went to the S185's.

They're perfect.

I would rather spend more on servos to spend less on repairs.
