Hey Peoples, I personally think the aluminum boom on the HB King is very good and cheap to buy, BUT just for your information or if everybody happens to be sold out of them, I had some Carbon hollow arrow shafts hanging around from aircraft usage. The outside diameter of the standard arrow shaft is just a C hair smaller than the stock boom. I made up the difference with CA, but you could use clear tape or one layer of electrical tape for a very snug fit. You can make the boom to frame notch with a dremel/cut-off wheel. You can get two booms out of an arrow shaft.

Hey DougsRC I bow hunted a few years back. Don't know your skills in archery but I shot aluminum arrows that were different sizes. I would just think you could buy the next size up in CF.

Need to take a micrometer reading on the HBK2 but here is a variety of arrow specs from easton.

I have plenty of time to research. My area is covered in a nice glaze of pure ice Anything left outside gets covered in Ice and I mean everything. Good news is Navy is killing Army on CBS.

Their used to be only 3 CF options 300,400, and 500. Now I believe the carbon manufacturers are producing almost as many carbon variations as aluminum which are almost endless. It was 34 degrees when I was flying yesterday Its just now made it back up there again today.

I was thinking about adding some CF to the HBK2 and the boom is a pretty inexpensive option. However, the goldish is tint on the aluminum boom is one thing that makes the HBK2 unique.

I'm not sure how they compare weight wise, but if the CF boom is lighter I'd do it just to help the CG.

CF is lighter But not enough. You need to be careful with the arrows If I remember right. Some of the carbon arrows were all the same outer diameter but gained strength by less inner diameter So look close and shop around when using arrow shafts. But Like you said the esky stuff if in stock is cheap enough. But I don't think you could get rid of enough weight if you took the tailboom off. I'm going the 2100mah battery way of adjusting CG. Slide your pack forward cause the battery is your only real way of adjusting CG on a heli that weighs one pound.
