I have just completed my Hurricane 200 and today is the day for the first flight! I bought this heli as a winter indoor flyer as it is too cold now up here in Canada for regulary outdoor flights (I am relatively new to the hobby and my other heli is a Trex600E, so way too big to even think about for indoors).

Thanks to everyone for the posts so far on this helicopter...they have helped with the set-up.

I'll let you guys know how it goes.

ok, first few flights done...so far so good, but still needs some adjustments. Fo such a small heli, I am surprised how stable it is once I get it settled down, but when it gets going, it is really fast.

I have a few questions:

1) Have you guys mounted antenna tubes, or if not, how have you run your antenna wire?

2) Is anyone else running a Telebee gyro? If so, how do you switch it from "normal" mode to "heading hold" mode?

3) Is there really any difference between using flybar wights and expo adjustments to dull the speed of the cyclic movements? So far I have no flybar weights so I am playing with the expo.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

All right, got it. Thanks for the replies! I didn't have the gyro set up right.

This heli seems awesome to me, but please consider that I am a newbie and certainly no expert. I have a Trex600E that I have about 100 flights on, so I don't do hard 3D or anything, and I bought the Hurricane 200 because it seemed to be the most advanced micro heli that I could fly inside during the winter. Replacement parts also seemed really cheap.

So far, it gets very high marks from me. It is very stable (once you get it set up and trimmed properly!). It seems extremely well designed. I have not had any of the issues that I have read about in other posts about ball joints cracking and the like because the new 200 is all aluminum, and seems very sturdy.

I am flying 2S 850mah batteries and while I am still only in hovering mode right now (so I am not pushing the batteries at all!), I am putting in 4 minute flight times and still putting only about 200 to 250 mah back in.

"My EP100 eats 100 mAh a minute" - I'll likely get into that range soon, I am clearly not pulling that much right now, but I am doing VERY basic hovering only (in normal mode, not even in idle-up). I am probably about one month away from thinking a little more about what packs I can put in for longer and harder flights!

I would take the blades off to add weights to the flybar:

Balance the fly bar by putting scotch tape on one paddle.

If it's better, fine. If not, move it to the other side.

If the tape doesn't improve either side, you're good.

Leave it off.
