thanks, i already got it going. i have been playing with it for a little while now

im only having one problem...

the head on the hyper is anodized blue, and the head on the YS is black. i have them colored as such. but when i do the rendering, it treats the colored parts as raw metals with no color at all.

i see that there is a blue anodized option for aluminium, but then it will do the entire model that way...

im sure i can select which aprts get treated what way, im still playing around with it.

time for more browny points with the teacher!

i actually always wondered what it would be like to polish a motor...but i dont have the patience to not only do it, but maintain the finish.

the rendering works really well once you fiddle with some settings!

but maintain the finish.

Furious, polish and then clear anodize, you'll never have to polish it again...

I do this with my aluminum spinners on my planks and the finish lasts a long long time.

Those renderings are lookin good.

Brian,

I have put a CD in the post to you with all the engines I have drawn plus an Hatori 998 muffler. They don't have internals but they are exact on the outside and the mass and C of G is spot on.
Hope thiese are useful.

how are the mass and CG spot on without internal components?

by measuring i would assume. i saw his version of the YS91 case. he uses random shapes internally to adjust the C of G and mass.

Shawn is correct. I add ballast in various materials where it is required to get the weight correct and the C of G in the correct place. You must remember why they have been drawn by me. I needed them to design a heli around, so the outside is important as is the weight, the rest is a waste of time for me. Adding ballast to an assembly takes a few minutes, drawing all the interal parts would require days, which to me is pointless. I attach a photo to show the point. The crank shaft is solid plus there is a block in the bore to adjust weight and C of G.
