What if they were using a .44 magnum? Then YOU AND YOUR FAMILY are at risk of being hit a bullet meant for the robbers. You have to THINK things through before you make insane comments like that....

Then these robbers might have already clubed them to death with the tire iron.

Might as well ask what if he didn't miss and saved my family's life?

But if he did hit my house he would be liable for his actions.

Quote
whether or not they get hit, I will be firing at YOU and I won't miss!

Nice...Threaten to kill anyone for trying to protect himself. Wouldn't that make you even worse than this Horn guy?

Well, let's just start handing out guns and badges to everybody over 18 and get rid of the cops. I trust the average Joe being judge jury and executioner. What do we need principles of justice for anyway?

Another wise man once said..."Move, you're dead."

If the judge, jury, and executioner would do their job, then we wouldn't have to. How about all the pedophiles that are put back on the street after the repeated molesting of small children? Who then go on to tie a twelve year old girl up in their basement for their own sexual amusement, only to kill her when they've had their fill. Where was your judge, jury, and executioner for that one? That happens all the time. Explain to that little girls parents about that pedophiles rights. People want all the rights of a civilized society, but they don't want the responsibilities. As soon as you make the decision to commit a crime against another, you give up a long list of rights in my book. Breathing is one of them. Instead of complaining that all of us are willing to take a stand against it, why don't you go out on a crusade to try to get the freaking criminals to change their ways? When was the the last time you tried that? I know, I know...Much easier to sound self-righteous, and take the "moral high ground" behind a keyboard, right? Give me a freaking break. If you care so much about what you profess to believe, get off your rusted hump and go do something about it. Joe Horn did, he's twice the man many of the whiners here are. Would much rather have him as a neighbor any day...

No way dude, I love the world. I just get annoyed when someone takes a stand against crime, and gets dragged through the mud for it. People forget who the real criminals are...

I don't know whats funnier....You saying that and steping in it, or you catching yourself for screwing up

I'll go with catching yourself...My friends and I have an agreement. If you say or do something stupid, but you can insult yourself about it before they do...Then you still get credit for the slam.

+1 to you sir.

Stepped way over the line, he was not in danger, but intentionally put himself there just so he could get his rocks off and kill some people and feel like a big man and get his 15 minutes.

He became more of a criminal than they where, dont kid yourselves that was two counts of premeditated murder, not self defence.

Not all, but many here are infact cheering on a murderer, whats worse is you dont see it and would love to have the opportunity to try to emulate it and also get away with it.

Its people like that that are the real threats to gun ownership in the US, if there are enough cases like this, it wont be long until there is another amendment to the constitution, one that simply deletes the second amendment.

Yahoo attitudes to gun ownership like from that guy, and from a lot of people cheering him on is what will get them outright banned, which would be rather poetic really.

There is self defence, then there is murder, he committed murder, end of story.

Who decided that a crime was committed? I thought it was "innocent until proven guilty", I don't remember that principle being followed with "unless...."

Quite a few of your own countrymen would disagree. Several already have.

The worst you can say about the man is that he may've been a bit 'gung ho' about stopping a crime and detaining the criminals, but that's clearly what he was doing despite his enthusiasm. I applaud him, and I'll contribute to his defense should he be indicted.

That I would agree with.

That is pure speculation on your part.

The law seems to disagree with you so far. I agree with them.

Incorrect, they are cheering on protecting people from criminals.

Again more wild speculation from you.

That is opinion, and most disagree with you.

I'm not disagreeing with you Ron, and I may have missed it somewhere in this thread, but have charges been filed in this case?

LOL I knew Texans were a bunch of knuckledraggers but this takes the cake...

http://home.houston.rr.com/rkba/gunlaws.html

Apparently it is legal to kill someone who is stealing someone elses property IF and ONLY IF it is dark outside. Specifically, between 30 minutes after sunset and 30 minutes before sunrise...

LOL, now I've heard everything...

I do know that landlords in Texas are allowed to disconnect electricity or water supply to a unit if the person is late on their rent. LOL, what a bunch of cavemen!

This is just cartoonish...and they wonder why we (the civilized world) laugh at them?

I think we should just let any half-senile 61 yr old man with a shotgun walk around and decide who is deserving of the death penalty...LOL

The funny part is, these are usually the same people who call themselves "pro-life"

Unfrickin believable...

But really, the funniest part of all this is that they are living in a state that was stolen from another country!

It's funny how thieves make laws that are harsher on other thieves once they have stolen everything in sight...

Nearly all of this continent was stolen from its previous occupants or some other country, mostly by Europeans, so what's the point in singling out Texas?

Because the case of Texas was pretty brazen. They agreed to become citizens of Mexico in return for being granted land. They turned around and declared war on the country they had just pledged allegiance to. They then went around and killed or drove off landowners who were not of european descent. That's why so many have the outlaw wild west mentality. It's in their blood...

I can't say I agree with the tactics of that particular 'acquisition', but I applaud the moral fortitude of Texas' founder's present descendants. Allow dangerous criminals to have rights they don't deserve and civilization more quickly falls apart. Sensible, law-abiding folks won't abide such nonsense. As you've pointed out, this is partly why Texas has such liberal self-defense laws.

The burglars had criminal records. Joe Horn had none. This tells me that it's very likely he was approached by them in a threatening manner after telling them not to move. I don't support his apparent enthusiasm in advance of the deed, but I fully support his actions after telling them not to move. F those thieves, and if Joe Horn is indicted, I'll send a check to help in his defense.

ROFLMAO "knuckledraggers"

LOU...Briggs P97 and P92FF were also in your link.

I think that clarifies the issue.

Just because he put on a display of bravado, does not prove "intent" perhaps he was trying to provoke the despatcher into RESPONDING to the situation he was in.....NO! the stupid sod told him to cower and be a victim ,cos his "protectors of truth and justice" were nothing of the sort.

His neighbour's property was violated...the perps werein his grounds...that is a clear indication that he was likely "next"

SUPPOSE he'd been unarmed and trying to run away from the crims....what would be the situation if they had stopped him...after all, he'd seen them and could identify them....corpses don't testify.

He's the sort of neighbour I'd be pleased to have. law ENFORCEMENT.

caught red-handed,plenty of evidence, neat and tidy case.

Perhaps the bleeding hearts would like to charge the crim's relatives with "aiding and abetting"and "dealing in stolen property".

In UK, the sentencing was always harder on the "fences" than the thieves....reasoning being that if no-one would touch the proceeds of the crime, the crime would not take place anyway.
