@jeaster

"so what if it was your son that went down that wrong road and he was talked into breaking in a house and taking some things to sell for a crack rock or something like that and he was shot by someone that had no business to even be outside at the time what would you say then?"

I would say first off, shame on me for doing a pizz-poor job of raising a son with no values or moral compass.
Second I would say that anyone who purchases property and pays the taxes on it has every right to be on it whenever he choses.
Finally, jeaster, you must have kids, family or friends who are or have been criminals otherwise you would not be talking so.

Its simple there is no 12 step program for stupidity. You are born with it and most of the time you die with it.These two stupids apparently thought that what they were stealing was worth their lives and thats what it cost them.Good for them.As for Mr Horn lets refer to him as a hero I think we need a federal holiday in his name.Look at the news every day I see at least 5 people that should have been dropped where they stand either by their victims or the police officer or officers that apprehended them.I can understand doing something dumb and learning from it but if you have a rap sheet thats over a half a page long something aint right with ya.All this hippy lets love every body and get along or your ok I'm ok crap don't work I wish it did but I'm sorry it don't.Start takin care of this stuff permanantly and it will eventually take care of its self they will start thinking twice about what they are doing due to the consequences.Do you want to here my border patrol plan?We could make money on it.

I love the smell of nitro in the morning..

OMFG!!! I missed that the first time I read that! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! That has got to be one of the funniest arguments on the thread. The guy had no business going outside his door. I guess that was in direct violation of a couple of worthless criminal's constitutional rights to steal? I support his decision to kill them, murder them, whatever you want to call it. Heck, I wish he lived next door to me. Did anyone hear about the protest that was going to be held in front of his door? Pretty much the entire area turned out in support and forced the POS protesters back to their cars, and drowned out their messages with chants of USA, USA! Apparently there is a video of it circulating, but I just kept finding dead links.

JJ -- you, like everyone else, are surely entitled to your opinion. Surely though you're able to see that you're in the definite minority in thinking this way, eh?

Why do you think that might be?

No prior record.

At this point, Horn had no prior criminal record. Since he was 61 years old and had not broken the law it is a pretty sure thing that he was not going to start shooting at some innocents. jeaster, you were a teenager in the mid-90's, the height of the "gangsta-rap" BS generation. I believe you have broken into houses or been close to someone who has, otherwise you would not hold the opinion you do. No one would have sympathy for the devil if they didn't agree with him to some extent.

Inspector fuzz that is the dumbest thing ever said here. Just because someone grew up in a certain period does not mean they were a product of it. So does that mean you are a pot smokin junkie?
Anyway, the rules are not made for the 98% of people out there, they are made for the 2% that take advantage of the absence of them. That being said, you have to "what if" it to death if you want to make a law that some idiot cannot circumvent. The analogy of the 9 year old kid is a very real one and "what if" it WAS ok to shoot people over stolen property, then there would be a LOT of dead people who were not "career" criminals but the one who did it for the first time.....Ron

I wish handguns were legal in UK. As it is, gun crime has reached epidemic proportions among the Afro-Carribean population-clusters here.

The police heirarchy display arrogance, ineptitude and incomprehension.
...so much so, that they've resorted to calling in known gang-leaders and ASKING them to stop shooting each other WTF?I thought their job was Law ENFORCEMENT...the grunts on the street are totally hacked-off with the lack of support from these overpaid,over-pensioned desk-jockeys.
Killing crims is drastic BUT an effective deterrent...as regards"vigilante",- that's only an issue if someone is ACCUSED. ...in the case in point, the crims were caught"in flagrente"NO AMBIGUITY . It's cheaper ,cleaner and easier to despatch them...corpses DON'T SUE. Their human rights die with them.
If you want to see UK bullcrap, google "TONY MARTIN" his mistake was that his shotgun was unlicensed and he had made it known that he would kill the next scrite who burgled his remote farmhouse home. If He'd been REALLY vindictive,he'd have hunted down and killed the other perps and their van, flattened it with the corpses, dug a hole with his JCB, and hid the lot.......plod would have probably been a week appearing and have had an impossible task searching a whole farm. (sensible plod would have heaved a sigh of relief that a few toe-rags had "disappeared" and alerted other constabularies that they "might" reappear on their patches.

I'm quite happy for the druggies to kill each other...when they start robbing me/my neighbours/my friends/my community, I get upset.
In that guy's position, I'd have told the f/wit despatcher to get their ass down here pronto and protect me....hiding wasn't an option, they'd already broken in next-door,so what would protect me?.....

Scum have to FEAR the consequences of antisocial behaviour.
A couple of years ago, I had a run-in with some young punks..defended my property and the leader came on hard...so I pointed out that he was only teenage and could waste most of his life in jail.....whereas i'm old, grown up kids, not hard to kill him and spend my some of my twilight years in jail.....his mates dragged him away and I never had further trouble with that gang.

Yes, I nigh-on crapped myself at the time, but I knew if I didn't make a stand,I'd be a victim every day I worked there.

If there is some POS crawling out my window with a bag of stuff that I worked hard and paid for, I hope he does. And with only 3 shots heard, and 2 thugs, sounds like a great case of "gun control". I also like the fact that he said, "Move, you're dead." I just wish I could have heard that punk's thought process when the "Oh $hit" moment sank in. I hope he shat himself just before he died in a pool of his own blood, staring at the bag of goodies he once held. Now if we could only broadcast that in prisons everywhere to criminals to let them know we law abiding citizens are tired of their crap and done dealing with it. At least most of us anyway. Then they'll just go after all you bleeding heart pacifists, until one day when you get tired of it and go buy a gun...

Kryptic, so it's ok that if you are sleeping with your family in the house for someone to start shooting into it? What if they were using a .44 magnum? Then YOU AND YOUR FAMILY are at risk of being hit a bullet meant for the robbers. You have to THINK things through before you make insane comments like that....Ron

We are done "what if"ing, remember? What if they just cut your wife and child's head off, and were slipping off into the night with their head in a bag while you were out of town on business? Would you want him to shoot at them then? Remember the fact was, he knew the neighbors were not home, waited until they had indeed commited the crime by exiting the house with property, he had already called the cops, and then went out to stop them. When they did not stop, he shot them dead on the lawn. Not through walls, not into the dark, dead on the lawn. 2 Bad guys, 3 shots. Good judgement, proper shot placement, your textbook case of what TO DO when faced with with that scenario. No matter how anyone tries to spin it to help satisfy their belief system, myself included, this guy did what he thought was the best thing to do at the time. He may not be a hero per say, but he is definitly someone to be admired. When faced with a difficult decision, he acted. He did not cower in the house like a pacifist little bi7ch, he went out not knowing if they were armed or not. He has my support.

So all situations go like that? Many kids and family members have been killed by stray bullets. In this situation it turned out ok. If YOU take a shot at a burglar coming out of MY house and my family is inside, whether or not they get hit, I will be firing at YOU and I won't miss!....Ron

bagobitz - you're a man after my own heart! I whole heartedly agree over the Tony Martin episode.

Horn is no more a cold-blooded killer than a soldier armed with his M-4 killing the enemy.

Oh, and didn't Horn shoot the perps on his OWN lawn?

Tach.
