I can see how you got confused about the canopy coming already painted in the kit. Someone had asked two questions in one sentence earlier in this thread and the answer was yes to one of the questions but left some of us to believe that the canopy was fiberglass and pre painted. This is not the case. I think the blow moulded with decals is the way to go. It's a much cheaper alternative to a painted 450 size canopy that approaches the price of a bigger canopy.

Blow molded canopies might not be pretty but they sure are a lot tuffer then fiberglass. I'm still flying with my original Raptor canopy, my Trex 600e goes through a canopy every crash.

Ok well even if it is plastic, no biggie and as long as it comes with the decals that Kyle and Bobby, and Nick show then that's not to bad.

Anyone know what servos the Bandit is designed around? On a 450, I've only used HS-56 servos and am wondering how the HS-65s are? Do the metal gears show any slop? Any other good choices out there nowadays?

The frames allow a sliding bar to accomodate just about any servo. Its very cool.

Check out the new Futaba 3156 servo from Futaba. Its spec are very good! They center well, and they are also metal gear. Extrememly tight mesh.

Sounds like the Bandit has some very clever engineering...cool! Thanks for the servo recommendation. Better than a HS-65MG, do you think?

Have a question about the Bandit's flying characteristics. I had a 90 Fury and an IonX a while back. Both very nice helicopters, but the one (and only) thing I didn't care for is that they both seemed very sensitive in pitch in FFF, i.e. it was hard for me to fly a straight line going fast. I'm not sure if this was a function of mixing ratios, dampening, or paddles, but those are pretty much the only three things I figured were the cause. What I'm wondering is if the Bandit appears to have the same flight quality I mention above? Also, wondering how it handles in the wind...stable or no? Difficult to answer question, I know...sorry, but I'm curious.

Thanks, Scot

ScotY,
I feel they are better than the HS-65. The centering is MUCH better and it also has a huge increase in speed. It just over all makes the heli feel more solid, and feel better. Anything that can make it easier on your thumbs is a plus! The HS-65s work well though, don't get me wrong.

I am actually doing that right now. This past weekend I was doing some expeirmenting on the paddles to adjust those characteristics. I found as I sharpened the L/E it did get pitchy, but with a more "blunt" L/E it tracked fine. As it sits, the Bandit does not have the pitchy feeling. Its pretty locked in in all orientaions.
Actually, funny you mention wind. I was flying the Bandit yesterday in 35+PMH winds. I needed my fix I guess Granted, it was bounced around, but it was possible, and was still fun.

Most likely it sounds as if, on your Fury and Ion, it was the paddles (possibly too sharp L/E or highpoint too far back, or even paddle C/G). Too it could have been flybar length, or the actual C/G of the heli. It could also be a number of other things as you mentioned also, such as mixing and delta adjustment, or dampeneing. Thats one of those trimming things you just have to play with until you get the set-up exactly how you like it.

Nick where can i see the specs on those servos.

Nick Hi those FUT3156 servos what are the specs on them or where can I see that? I'll try Fut's website. Congrats on your first place finish.

Bandit MA

I was talking to Ma today they are saying Bandit will be out by the end of march. They are working on a new capony design.

This will be one great heli ......Can't wait I alreday have Ionx, Razor just missing Badit from my fleet .........Soon will be complited.

I like their quality but they need to bring parts pricing down if they want to rock the market.

Thanks for the info, Nick. I'll see about getting some of those servos to try.

New canopy? What's wrong with the current canopy design? I kinda like it...looks like a MA canopy should, I think.

Yea I liked the canopy that I saw on Kyles unit for sure. Must be just a parts roundup going on in regards to delay. At first I must say for the 325 market I did not think that MA would do much with this one. However in seeing more pictures and seeing how fast this head is I do think that for those looking for a higher end 450 this one is going to be the king. I look forward to seeing these up close this summer.

Lets see what happens when they come out. The Ion-X2 and Razor seemed to be hyped up a lot when they came out but you dont really see much of them flying today. I still want a Bandit for sure though.

Nah. I have tested the model at 4000. But std. running speed is 3600.

On my indoor machines they are turning around 3200. Just a bit less power for the smaller space.

Things are happening quickly!

In defense of the Ion X2. You just have to fly someones and you'll be hooked. The Ion X2 seems to be more than the hype. I can't speak for the Razor because I have never flown one. As batteries get better and cheaper, I think we'll begin to see more 700 size machines at the field.
BTW, I can't wait to get a Bandit!!
